I like that Jon Ralph showed the Trac interview post injury. He gave a lot of clarity to the issue. It sounds like CP leaked directly to Tom Morris, or one of the opposition players leaked directly to him. Very immature.

Would like to know who all the "Scallywags" are at Melbourne.

After the post injury interview emerged, it was interesting to see how some commentators who said the club ignored Tracc after KB embarrassingly tried to backtrack on these claims. Same with some of the posters on here.

I'm pleased that the July 1st, post ICU, interview on the MFC site was aired on OTC. I think it was first quoted on DL by Demon Dynasty. I've been spreading it far and wide since. I tried to encourage Gerard Whately to refer to it on Saturday morning after his acidic diatribe against MFC office bearers but couldn't get through. Thanks again DD.

I was also a proponent of spreading it far and wide at any opportunity. Curious if it got through or they finally found it on here, but howabouts journalistic due diligence and all that?

Seems convenient to air it now that Petracca is staying put and they all got led up the garden path, yet now that the MFC turns out to be reasonably stable after all they're coming after our beloved CP5. We love you Cristian 💞

Also, the rhetoric has somehow shifted from Roffey being under significant pressure to seeking out an orderly handover herself. And Kozzie is now content as well. Go figure.

Why does it take Trac to raise issues which is more than just winning as it’s clear there are deeper issues around culture for the club to take action?? Is the football dept asleep at the wheel??

Some one. Of a whole group definitely took their eyes off the ball.  Need a media manager and player welfare person to look after these things.

i have stopped being concerned.

There is only one way Tracca will be worth anything to other clubs late next year. And that obviously is for the MFC and Trac in particular to have such a fantastic year and we are top 4 looking at the flag and CP5 is favoured for the Brownlow.

If that’s the case he has put his time in , let him go. But his salary will still be sn impediment.

this thread is ticking along still.

I hope we have a good start to the season next year otherwise this whole CP5 thing will de-stabilise us again.

I imagine Christian would feel quite let down by Demon supporters based on the current thread-count compared to Jesse and Jack. Back to smile-watch and swimming & [censored] and perhaps we can show him the angst he deserves.

For the naysayers who mentioned it was all media noise, Jon Ralph reported on Fox that Petracca and his fiancé both personally approached other clubs to find a trade solution to get out of Melbourne in the last few weeks. They also exhaustively approached pro scouts etc to find a potential trade route. Don’t shoot the messenger.

With friends like this who needs agents?

Imo any leaks from the playing group speak to a lack of trust in the club leadership to message properly themselves.

This is hilarious.

Kate Roffey is giving masterclasses in how to message the media. Suggest you attend 🤪

It seems to me to be playing along well. Remember when we werent being spoken of at all because we were insignificant and didnt matter. Brand Petracca would be happy as well as he is getting greater exposure.

It just seems Trac has had an extremely concerning injury, with excess time isolated and to reflect. He is normally so invested in training and high performance physical management that  his current situation has thrown him off kilter.  He may even be reflecting on the serious nature of the injury and pondering how this will affect his future performance. No doubt he will discuss this with those closest to him and will receive a wide range of advice. His emotions and reactions shouldnt be discouraged and should be adressed positively. I feel the club may be doing this. Its (like Clarrie) a long term game. He is along term contracted player needed to help the club and teamates achieve the best so keep going.

There is the potential for his condition performance to drop off because of the injury, it is the job of the club , the coach and those around him to manage this. Again I would think the club would be doing this.

So expect more of the histrionics and the hyperbole and even fairy tales. The club does need to respond to each iteration with a clear consistent messagfe that recognises all the above but emphasisies we are in this for the long haul. Nothing to worry about.

if the players come to the conclusion that tracc is now calling the shots in the football department i'm not sure how that is going to sit well with his team-mates. instead of fixing culture problems it could go the other way and create division - a'la mfc hollywood again.  tracc may be very mature professionally but judging by his recent behaviour not so professional on an interpersonal level.

interesting times ahead

Agree.  The narrative that is being pushed and accepted that CP has the "highest professional standards" in the club, and that he's the only one that has raised frustrations, and that what he says goes, does not bode well for team harmony.  It's pretty insulting, actually, to the players that work incredibly hard, get little support, and keep their heads out of the media.  If there are 'culture' problems in the club (what does that even mean??), then I'd put money on CP being a part of the problem.

He needs one of these inserted for the next 12 months. We need to know which clubs he visits.

Did Libby leave because of our culture? Joking of course but wonder what she offered

She was very circumspect about it all but did agree that a review should be done as ’its been 2 years now’ and also said that the club seems overly defensive with reference to its culture and that ‘owning up to things’ is a sign of a good culture.

What a horrible post. I don’t think either Christian and Bella or the Club are totally to blame. Both are equally as guilty of the situation being lack of communication as  usual which creates an impasse.

You also need to take some angry pills and forgive both. We have survived and it needs all the Club to move on with some lessons and improvement now and in 2025.

You seem incensed and unforgiving. It’s a mistake by both parties we make them learn then move on.

We have all our players other than ANB and plenty of opportunity to recruit and trade for new ones.

What we can hope for is Trac and Clarry back in form leading us back and winning games of footy.

Here's the thing. They will never be back the way they were in 2021 and the first half of 2022. Time has moved on, the game's changed and other teams have caught up with stronger midfields and have superceded the way the game is played. There's no Angus around the place either, and no ANB. Charlie Spargo hasn't played for almost a whole season. People are banging on about a review of the club but I'll bet that Goody and his assistants are reviewing how they want the team to play and how the midfield can catch up to the rest. That's what we can hope for (along with some strong recruiting from JT and Lamb).

Regular reader but rarely post however I am finding my thoughts and emotions around the whole situation changing by the hour. What is wrong with me? It was good news over the weekend wasn’t it???

Having been a few days now since the ‘staying at MFC’ announcement, my initial happiness and joy has for some reason dissipated somewhat as my brain runs over the possible consequences and doubts are setting on how I will feel when I watch the Dees next year, and more specifically, Christian. Reading the comments posted so far, seems there are a few buckets that people will fall into:

1.  Will never look at him the same way again and will not cheer anything he does. Should have traded him this year.

2. Will never look at him the same way but will cheer him anyway while in red and blue.

3. Time will probably clear my head from negative thoughts towards him and will be back to loving him unconditionally when next season rolls around.

4. Love Christian and always will.

I think I am currently in bucket 2. Hoping to move to bucket 3 in time but will have to see how that pans out I guess.

I also have been thinking that I hope the club are putting in place a clear action plan about how this will be managed with the fans moving forward. Based on a couple of the clips shown last night on Footy Class and On The Couch, Eddie was quite clear that in his mind CP is a Dees player next year only and the big clubs have that time to get their ducks in a row to get him in 2026. There was also one that showed CP in a radio interview last year saying that Dees have small crowds and the demographic is quite old (with a look of disgust on his face). Media are going to be constantly over this whole thing again next year and while I am currently probably in denial that he will ever leave, a little voice inside says it is quite likely he will.

How are the club going to manage this next year? They need for fans to embrace Christian to make him feel loved but not sure many will forgive and forget. What strategies the club adopt to mitigate the anger some fans have towards him will be interesting to see. Can’t be seen to be pandering to him either. Will the club ask him to do an interview explaining events and reasons it all blew up the way it did but saying how much he loves the club and the fans. Could they go the other way and restrict his media commitments in case he might be a loose cannon and cause another media pile on. If so, this may fly in the face of ‘brand CP’5’.
Another year of continued speculation may tip some supporters over the edge. Time will not heal these wounds for many.

As Christian would put it, ‘to be honest’ I think we are in for a rocky ride folks and the club must have firm plans in place to minimise fallout from loyal supporters and not just rely on time healing our wounds.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
