Let’s be perfectly clear, this is an act of treason, from which there is no return. We can hold him to ransom, but he has had long enough to pledge allegiance. He has not done so. That alone has caused irreparable damage to the Club. I cannot see a way back to mend the damage and the relationship. It’s like the ex girlfriend that changes the moment you breakup and you feel like you never really knew at all.

The remark earlier here that Trac isn't himself post-injury trauma is something that I can confirm on a personal level (to some extent, not comparing my experiences to anyone else's). You see the world differently, small issues get magnified out of all proportion, you lose sight of the big picture and it takes good people and support to keep you on the straight and narrow and restore some measure of equilibrium.

No idea of anything re Trac, but wouldn't surprise me if he was struggling, nor that he might not fully grasp that he was.

What really irks me is that the way he’s gone about it, means that he’s made it so hard to keep him, while also making it equally difficult to get a satisfactory trade done.

He could follow A.Yze to Richmond to help with their rebuild (they have the biggest membership). 

They have plenty of draft pics and Lynch.

Don't fight for a player who doesn't want to be at MFC. Can only be disruptive to us, and without being driven he could let himself decline.

Most big professional leagues around the world transfer players all the time. AFL has been an outlier, though is catching up. Tracc is part of the world's high performance athletes, and expects what that cohort does.

No - signing a long contract did not indicate he was accepting of the Casey commute or our low crowds. 

When he signed for 7 years, it provided him financial security. That is the ONLY purpose of a contract to a player. 

Contracts have rarely prevented a player from leaving as once they lodge a trade request, very few clubs would destabilise themselves or set the precedent for future player retention by holding a player against their will, and instead will work to get what they can.

Every club has issues, and yet I don’t see their club president releasing statements to appease their highly strung supporters. 

You know what, you're right and I'm wrong, there is nothing wrong with our culture, despite what the majority of journalists say. If they were smart enough they would have contacted you before they printed their lies. 

Besides that, I'm sure that President Roffey has more important things to do than brief journalists and defend the club, things like host functions and committee meetings.

I can't get past the fact he says he wants to play for a big Victorian club. It's very disrespectful to the MFC. I don't know how he walks back that remark if a trade can't be done. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive but i can't see myself cheering his name if he lines up for us in round 1 next year.

Bit gutted by all this as I have always thought Trac to be a selfless, loyal, really nice person.

Isn’t his fiancé a social media type person - wonder if in his traumatised state and realising the fragile nature of footy, injuries and recovery both mentally and physically he is being advised to look at maximising his online marketing through a large supporter base while he is able. Future post footy.

I had imagined him to be the great support person during Clarrie’s troubles / recovery.

Guess I have been wrong on a lot of fronts.

Hard to see a hugely positive outcome for any stakeholders from the drama.

The elephant in the room for him is that he is 28, turning 29 in January. 

I say go bezerk and offer him and Oliver for trade and to a 23-year-old age bracket rebuild and somehow get Harley Reid.

This is almost getting to the point where a person is trying to salvage a relationship while the other partner is out there airing all their laundry.

There could be more than one club interested in Petracca.

Ideally, due diligence would come into drafting a star but there’s also the thought of a competitor getting the jump.

So far the club,  including Goody, have played their hand well.
