So what happened to going to Adelaide to be near his kids ?

Maybe that's what has motivated his desire to leave the state?

Carlton apparently have already signed him.

I thought he went to Adelaide to be closer to family.

He did, but that was during covid times.

Now the kids are 3 years old and Carlton are prepared to offer him half of Lygon St.

Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy return flights to Adelaide, boarding school and trust funds.

Wake up Melbourne and offer whatever this bloke wants/demands.

I’d have hoped we made a genuine offer but the idea he’d replicate 2021 is unlikely when you look at the rest of his career.

And if the footy department cap is a legit thing paying a fortune for Burgo would mean skimping on coaching and recruiting.

Burgo made sure we had a good replacement and good processes in place.

If he wants silly money then let Carlton pay it and make sure we’re spending on fresh coaching and list management staff.

Part of Burgo’s philosophy was resilience and playing through duress and injury. I wonder if part of the disconnect between the playing group is there is a split in belief. Max clearly for the model playing through injury half the year, Trac post incident certainly not, but also playing Spargo game one or Petty all year, surely created doubt in its effectiveness for some of the team. Even May might be thinking twice. Maybe this forms part of the grievances and a fresh approach needs to be sort out. At least a model that is universally trusted.

Burgess not going to the Blues

CARLTON has poached Sydney fitness guru Rob Inness to serve as the Blues’ new high-performance boss.

Inness will see out the season at the minor premier and premiership-hunting Swans, where he has made a significant impact since arriving in late 2020 as head of athletic performance.

I maintain it was Burgo's fitness program and Selwyn's injury management partnership that was so successful in 2021.

If we can afford both and Selwyn is prepared to re focus on just injury management, that could be huge for us.

Selwyn is more than competent.

We need to stop looking for "gurus" as some kind of miracle workers.

Burgess has run fitness departments for plenty of teams who haven't even made the 8 - including us. Not doubting his capability, but he's just one factor amongst many.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
