The players have spoken.

Something is rotten in the club.

What’s the over/unders margin line for a sacking after the Geelong game?

He’s on the Friday night stage next week so the whole footy world will be watching.

I wish the club would [censored] him off now but they won't. Maybe mid year.

We'll be batting to win a game.

We'll be battling to win a quarter.

I want change now and it appears the players do as well.

Why wait for more hidings and embarrassing insipid performances that will see our fans stay away in droves.

Thanks for the flag Simon

Until now I’ve thought the players had Goodwins back even when we have been poor, this feels different. Looking at the players even in the first qtr the group as a whole just looked flat and already defeated

Thank you for the flag but the way we've unravelled on and off field since 2023 is too much of a mess to recover from.

Sorry but I can't buy this. We finished top 4 both years. 2022 finals I'll accept, it wasn't great, but the 2023 finals were lost by the players on the day, not the coach.

Is there such a thing as a coaching CEO? We need a two for one deal 😂

I'd prefer the end of the year, it's unlikely there's anyone better to take over.

But I suspect you may be thereabout right

We are imploding very quickly

Today was putrid to watch, small crowd too. This will hurt the finances if we continue the form

If your head coach is not taking responsibility then who is?

The question I'm intrigued by..

Take our list..... then imagine any or all of the other coaches were to take the helm.

What would our team sheet look like... how would we play  ??

If you think there'd be no difference... well, you'd be kidding yourselves.

That's a reality.

Now you have mentally travelled down that road...  what do we think ? 🤔

I've been a big Goodwin fan, from day 1 when he created the Diamond formation in 18, to the best defence we've ever seen as demons in 21/22. Maybe a fresh voice is needed and a list overhaul before Tassie come in... I'd be bringing in 1 of Buckley or Longmire before they get snaffled elsewhere

If this was a relationship and you had any self respect you’d walk away, but with coaches it’s always about the payout. Settle his contract and move him on or the potential gate loses / merchandise / memberships / players wanting out will far outweigh any potential payout.

Thanks Goody for 2021, the 3rd qtr was arguably one of the greatest qtrs of footy ever played. Just a shame most of us couldn’t be there to see it live.

Hawthorn and the Dogs have shown us what’s possible.

Yeah - after that showing last week - the one thing that speaks volumes is the clear lack of spirit today from the opening bounce. You don't have a to be a great team - but if you can't show up with energy when a response was required, at a home game against a minnow who has struggled here and had no fanbase to contend with....it speaks. Very loudly.

He has lost the group.

Unfortunately there is now little quality around him. We couldn't attract a credentialed midfield or backline coach.

We're going to be down a long time I think.

Should have cut our losses when Oliver and Trac wanted out - and started again with the bounty. Ironically it might have been the best thing for Simon to buy him time.

This era is finished - the leaders are finished.

Should have transitioned to Yze when we had the chance. Players loved him and you could see the Richmond kids play for him in rd1. They'll lose most games (our rival for the spoon) but at least they showed up with spirit.

Entire team bar Aidan Johnson (who is a long long way away from being AFL standard) was not interested today.

Unacceptable

Time for a change of coach. Thanks for your service Simon.

After today’s performance after getting belted last week I second that nomination king.

TIME FOR A NEW VOICE AND DIRECTION.

Slow ball movement stagnated forward line. Time to go if you care about the club Goody you should take sole responsibility for the disasterous year we have had. We need to rebuild and Goody is not the man to take us there unless you want a Simpson type form line. Roffey if you are worth your weight you should sack him now. Time to release Jeffo

So the new coach will bring a group of champions with him/her? Nope, it'll be the same cattle with - as of now - three, maybe four players in form, six kids trying to find their feet and 15 blokes who can't kick straight.

That's not fair for us - I don't think I can take 4 more weeks of this - It needs to happen this week - We need to make a statement and do something to salvage our season - Lookin at the draw, I don't see where our next win will be.

I’m not a fan of Goodwin and haven’t been for a while but will Richardson take over if he goes because I think he needs to follow Goodwin out the door

What do you think Max would be thinking ??

Max is a very proud Demon......

I fear Simon Goodwin has lost the players.

They just aren't responding to him it seems.

Interesting that after three losses blues fans are calling to remove their coach.

Carlton did better than us last year and the one before , beating us in a nail biting finish. There will be the same stories in the fake press about goody if we do likewise and lose our third on the trot.

Come lads, do it for for Goody. Smash these upstarts in Gcs. Big time.

Ps while we may not have the firepower that Carlton have in a couple of power fwds, our goals are kicked by several players so they are harder to shut down. Having said that those players too need to step is as well. Big time.

Laughable, he clearly has lost the group. No idea on a modern day game plan and is too arrogant to listen to others.

For the sake of any chance of future membership he must be removed immediately.

contest and defence!

Yes.

Don't forget to prioritise contest & defence, along with meaningless inside 50 stats and territorial dominance (expected scores etc) over actually scoring goals.

Winning the stats but not the game.

Simon Goodwin..."The chances are you're about to lose".

Up until last week I was all for him. I don't know disagree in the slightest. But for a variety of reasons. He deserves respect but needs to go. So the sooner the better.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
