Try contacting the demon army, they may be able to advise if there are ickets available amongst their group. My daughter did earlier in the week.

The Bulldogs have only given us 250 tickets for our bay. Ordinarily, at an away game like this we buy out the remainder of the bay and share the cost. But in this case the Bulldogs have made the rest of our bay GA.

It’s never a bad idea to email the DA but I don’t think there’ll be any tickets still available.

Obviously not all this game but they need to get games into  Tholstrup and Howes.  Verrall and Jefferson also need a taste as both will be getting games next year.  Sestan needs to get a game to see how he goes. Hope he gets another year.  No point recycling Hunter Brown Billings Schache and Thomlinson, other than to give them a send off.

Wouldn't mind seeing Howes and Hore back for this one.

Howes showed a lot of promise in his first handful of games but got progressively got worse. Any chance he could be trialled on the wing? There is an opening with Windsor out.

Hore played well in the earlier game against the Dogs.

With Windsor out and Billings not performing last week, it probably opens the door for Hunter to return for his 200th.

With Windsor out, what are the thoughts on playing Disco on the wing. He has pace, he can mark, he can defend, he’s good below his knees and he can kick. This might allow Jeffo to get a run up forward - which would make @picket fencevery happy.

We've replaced Laurie's 19 average touches last week with Sparrow's forthcoming 15 average touches

Looking forward to Howes on a wing (?)

I’m not one for buying into OTT “we lost it at selection” stuff, but dropping Laurie after what was surely his best game yet doesn’t feel right.

Maybe I’m missing something with Laurie but I feel like in four years he’s never really been given a proper go at it. I thought he was decent last week but nope.
If he’s not up to it, fine, but then why did they sign him up long term before the year began.

Puzzling development IMO.

Sparrow is better than Billings, and Tholstrup has more potential than Laurie. Seems that simple to me. Agree it was the best game we've seen from Laurie but it still wasn't a good game.

Yep agree whilst the jury is out with Laurie he SHOULD have been perservered with, this sends out a SHOCKING message to him IMV! ANNNNND wheres Jeffo??? And that great converter and Key forward extraordinaire Petty still gets a gig!??

That 94 team fwd line of Lyon, Schwartz, Charles, jackovich injured, pike, Then Stynes, Tingay, Lovell , Lovetts, Neitz, etc etc the most talented team not to win a flag

Take your point @Demonsone. But the '94 team was easily surpassed by the 2023 team IMHO.

Whoever it is that keeps on bringing Billings back in for a game before he gets dropped again, rinse and repeat can find themselves at another club next year thanks

Either that or Howes to half back and Woewodin to the wing. Tholstrup sub?

They clearly love Kolt ahead of Laurie.

On first inspection given Laurie's equal team high score involvements last week, it's a bizarre decision.

But if we love Kolt more, I wonder if Laurie will be encouraged to explore his options...

Didn't Laurie sign a 2 yr deal earlier this yr?

Good Changes

Sparrow, Howes, Kolt In.

Sparrow with 22 contested touches earnt his recall.  I just wish he could convert this dominance to senior footy

I'd like to see Howes be tried on the wing, at least at time.

Billings deserved the chop. Laurie was decent last week but not better than what Kolt brings

Agreed pretty disappointed for Laurie, was ok against GWS, Woey gives very little & Bowey has been ordinary all season

Wow.. bizarre decision to drop Laurie.

I think he'll have to for his careers sake. As you say, club clearly prefers others over him and he appears to be one of the few players that doesn't get multiple games to consolidate form.

I think the club view him as depth now and given we don't have much rolling through the middle at Casey he was given a contract. However, it wouldn't surprised me to see him traded for a late pick in the event that we trade in another mid option and draft one in the first round.

Laurie must not be doing what he’s being asked. There is no other explanation for why they’d drop him after his game last week. He must be missing something.

Surely Laurie is a late in for somebody. Personally feel he should be playing the remaining games this year. I still have doubts about him making it but I have seen some signs from his games this year that he has some potential. I really don’t think the club has given him enough continuity to find his feet and confidence in the seniors.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
