It's Game Day and this could be the Demons last roll of the dice for their chances at making finals this season as the come face to face with the hot and cold GWS Giants tonight at the MCG in a true 8 point game.

We could win, we could also get flogged.  Hopefully we see a team hungry for the fight and a win to keep the season alive.

It's a saying dating back to the 17th century when heavy rain would wash dead animals down the street.

Don't take it literally PF. You ain't gonna be hit on the bonce by a Great Dane, or heaven forbid, a big pu$$y.

How in hell are we favourites???

Says more about them than us IMO.

GWS at the G is not exactly a match made in heaven. Plus their last two wins have been relatively average performances hidden behind exceptional goalkicking accuracy. Two weeks ago against Richmond at the G they had fewer CPs, clearances, inside 50s (-17!) and scoring shots. Underlying performance was very average against the worst side in the comp.

Giants are as schizo and inconsistent as we are. Genuine 50/50 game

Very poor last week so I expect us to rebound with a good performance. hopefully its enough to win

Go dees.

Absolutely essential to win tonight to help our finals chances. I don’t like our chances of winning 4 straight if we lose tonight.

The Giants have been very average the last few weeks and only winning due to accuracy. May should be able to cover Hogan and I’m trusting McVee to do the job on Toby.

This is also the first time we’ll see Petty, JvR, Melksham and Turner all up forward while not doing the majority of the ruck. In some ways I hope the rain stays a away a little bit because I think we can get them in the air.

Agreed. We will be fielding, I believe,  our best fwd line and hopefully it won't have to do half the ruck work.

Would be great if the rain could stay away

Not sure, they are a high handball team so rain isn't great for them

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
