I think Woewodin will be lucky to hold his spot. He needs to go harder and be cleaner if he is going to make it.

Tomlinson may only hold his spot if TMac goes forward. (Champion Data had TMac's game last week as exceptional but I doubt we really want a backline with all of Lever, Tomlinson, May and TMac.)

Melksham could be the sub.

TMac won't go forward, or at least for anything other than a cameo. He (and/or the Club/coach) have said that his fitness/foot issues make that non viable.

Melksham needs match fitness. Being the sub won't help that.

I think Fullerton could play and chop out for Max and play pettys role.

If that's the case them Melk as sub.

More than likely we play Melk in the Petty role and swing TMac forward if we need more tall targets up front

We can’t lose Petty and Tommo.

WC have 3 tall fwds in darling Allen Waterman. not huge talls but all dangerous

Petty Brown out

Melksham Salem in

How much more dangerous than Stock Aitken Waterman?

We should be so lucky.

Looking at the two sides West Coast are not much less experienced than we are....you'd think a bottom team would be playing all kids but the Eagles have plenty of veterans - just not performing consistently anymore.

Fullarton instead of Jeffo!! Are we tanking? Explain how Jeffo travelling emergency last week played an excellent game in the wet last week and not even in the extended squad??

GOODWIN has lost the plot!

I have read your famous track reports, so I’m sure you have the better handle on the roles these players are capable.

But Jeffo surely doesn’t ruck well, at AFL level? And Gawn needs a break. If Fullerton is worth a list spot, surely THIS is the moment!

It usually doesn't work. Goodie has made a career of bringing players straight back in after injury or too early & it usually fails.

Salem - fail   Bowey - fail  Petty- fail

McAdam  - fail

Not a pretty record.

Spargo - fail

If there ever was a time for a test for Fullerton as a ruck chop out/big this would be it.

Agree on Fullarton, to give Max a rest.

But Melk is named on ground, doesn’t that mean he isn’t sub?

Think both Fullarton and Melk will play. TMac in defence.

Fullarton, Chandler, Turner and Salem (or Bowey)

Tholstrup sub

It’s my dream that fullarton can be that second Ruck and we leave JVR up forward to kick bags. 6 this week will do!

Dees have a 100% strike rate of mistakenly bringing someone straight back in the senior.

I hope they keep Tholstrup and give him a decent run. Then perhaps Windsor as sub as he hasn’t done a lot the past couple of games and his kicking and handball radar has been well off.

Would definitely support that...hope Tholstrup stays in.

I'd hate to see kolton as the sub I liked his game last week. Keep him in the rest of the year please !!

With Petty out I think we need some height up forward and JVR to stay in the forward line for the entire game aside from when he's on the bench.

Therefore I wouldn't be opposed to Fullarton getting a gig.  It would mean that Kolt would probably get dropped from the extended bench and most would be against that.

Agreed. I think JVR is a great 2nd ruck but we need him at full forward more. Carlton get by with Cripps at stoppage, so surely we can fill the position when Gawn is off the ground with someone who isn't quite so vital to our structure up forward (as JVR is).

I agree, although he's listed on the ground, so he's playing in the 22. But to be fair to Woey, we have yo yo'd him in and out for 12 months. Hard to get continuity going with that.

Rather than having a forest of tall timbers up front, we more desperately need more mobility up front to be creative targets for those to whom the responsibility, downfield, is to exploit their eyes, the opportunities and leads and space-making that result in goals, not clearances by the opposition (as our key forwards are pillars of salt who do not even bother to chase down opposition clearance exponents).

Cripps is 6 foot 4 though, so taller than JVR. None of our mids are in that height range and because we can lack speed from the stoppage, it probably is a little dangerous to play without someone who gives us a good contest. JVR does this. But I'd play Fullarton this week.

Cripps is 195 cms which is nearly 6 foot 5 inches.

I think the main thing with Melk is too give him a game in the Magoo's.

If he shows something during the game bring him off at half time for next week.

Let's be sensible with this and respect his comeback appropriately.

Training and rehab form different to game day situations/intensity.

I was obviously wrong.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
