Hope we don’t deviate from our aim of landing a gun off half back. That’s our absolute priority in my eyes,  back the current frwd line in to improve with another year under their belt and better method off half back.

I know he is locked in for a few more years but I hope we’re poking around Lachie Ash. We’ve got the assets and cash to get something done.

FYI Membrey is only 188cm

agree he plays tall but he is a 3rd tall at best imo

We can't attract or don't want to attract a Tall forward on big money it seems.

I think people get a bit hung up on a tall being over 195cm,  the AFL has shown that if you have 2 talls that can't apply adequate pressure you will get rebounded on very easily.  This is why you can just go and get any tall fwd as JVR and Fritta aren't pressure players either.

Tough balancing act and i don't envy who has to make calls, bringing in another key fwd could see us lose a Turner/Petty/Jefferson

Which out of contract tall forward are you targeting this off season?

Harry Boyd 198cm Ruckman/ forward won the Magarey medal in the SANFL comp.

Suits us down to the ground.

Twiggy Rawlings is the coach of Norwood, Goody should be in dialogue with him asap if he already hasn't been.

We have to get creative this off season.

So some examples that would improve our list

* I'd be upgrading Fullarton with Harry Boyd.

* Membrey or Sam Day on average $$$

* A couple of recycled mids eg. Matthew Kennedy, Cumming

* Fast small forward Rosas.

plus,

Pickett 23 & 24?

Petty in 23?

Grundy to us in 22?

That's just related to our club in the last 2 years, heaps of other examples of (big name) contracted players being courted elsewhere.

We've tried with Tom Lynch at least once too

Macrae the most interesting player of the trade period. Only averaged 12% (!) CBA's this year.

Cooked? Bevo'd? Both?

Treacle slow one position player in a game increasingly demanding speed and spread.

Hope we do the Macrae/Daniel double for maximum melts

Both are cooked. Seriously.  Answer is NO.  They are on big money with reduced output.
Have we not learnt anything?
Salary dump strategy of guys like Hunter & Billings is going backwards!!!

Decent fit for us, 5 hammies in 12 months is a massive red flag though. Might help the Blues get Houston if they offload him.

Nah, I was all for Cerra pre Carlton, but not only has he failed to live up to expectation Inhad on him, he's constantly injured.

The Carlton mid I'd like is Walsh, but he too has injury problems and they'd never let him go. He'd be perfect in our system.

THE HEAT IS ON by Meggs

FNQ will be hot and sultry this Thursday night when the mighty Demons take on the highflying Hawks at up there Cazalys Stadium in Cairns.   The Demons once again rebrand for Indigenous Round as ‘Narrm’, the Woi Wurrung name for Melbourne in the language of the traditional owners.   Narrm has surged back up the ladder and sits just outside the eight on percentage with 5 wins. Our opponents Hawthorn sit second with 8 wins and have been become really offensive.

Coming to Melbourne after seven years as a leading goal kicker at North Melbourne, Brown was well known for his unique, extremely long run up on set shots for goal. After some early setbacks injury wise settled into the full forward position in time to play a big role in the 2021 premiership win with three goals. Unfortunately, the remainder of his time at the club was hampered by injury including the need to undergo knee surgery. He retired from playing football at the end of the season after 4

    AWESOME FOURSOME by Meggs

The rejuvenated Demons out tussled the Tigers by 13 points to make it four wins on the trot on Saturday which means that the slight possibility of a finals appearance remains alive in 2024. This is despite the AFLW handicapping the Demons against their peers yet again (more later). Lots to celebrate as it was Kids Day at Casey Fields and both teams ran onto the ground modelling their Pride jumpers.   Kate Hore won the toss and kicked to the Clyde end. Thankfully, the notorious Casey

We’re back!  Winning the last three matches has recaptured our Demon spirit and, with superstar players returning from rehab, our Season 2024 dreams are not over yet.   So come along 5.05 pm Saturday afternoon to watch this Round 9 ladder-defining match at the Field of Dreams. Expect the Tigers to be fierce, but surely the Demons will be more fierce. Playing conditions are expected to be a dry 15 degrees with a typically gusty Cranbourne wind. THE TRADING CHRONICLES 03

Part 3: Happier Days by Whispering Jack It would be fair to say that when the Melbourne Football Club entered the free agency and trade period earlier this month, its reputation was flagging, if not in tatters. The club was taking a battering in the media and social media over a number of issues, some real and others imaginary and even fabricated, relating to the running of the club, team performance and its culture, a build up that’s been taking place for more than twelve months.
