Windhager watch. 26 possessions (14 uncontested) at 89% efficiency. Plays hard. Runs hard. Has polish.

Should be our number 1 target. I hope we have a serious (but not ridiculous) offer on the table to try and jag him out off there. I am sure once NWM actually says heโ€™s going home they will give Windhager what he wants but we should be doing what is required to convince him otherwise.

One thing i hope our list management team is looking at (and some demonland posters realise) is that with Tassie coming in and possibly another team a few year after that. thats 50(depending on exceptions given, but im guessing Tassie will get extra list spots) new players for the competition.

This means that what we call player 22-30ish now become starting players and those beyond become very important depth.

Players like Laurie, Culley, Mentha, Verrell, Sharp, Woewodin and Brown who some people may think we should cut, will actually become pretty important and valuable i believe.

as they will be the right age and have afl ready bodies, this will happen to every club and if you cut too deep and get stuck topping up with kids you will get exposed at the bottom end.

Just a though I had during the week, rem when GC and GWS came in how many "mature age" players were drafted, be smart to get ahead now

Replacement for Gawny, as Campbell also old.

Max Ramsden from Hawks?

He canโ€™t get a game past Meek, and they also have Reeves who canโ€™t get a game.

Ramsden would be a good selection as heโ€™s young and can be a future player.

Those players might well have value.

Just possibly not with us.

yes, but my point is the draft picks we will get for them won't be of value. They are worth more than picks in the 40s and beyond.

Wonder how the Jackson situation is looking.. And if Freo lose to the Dogs next week means we'll start hearing some more about it..

I still think if he leaves his pref would be us, we'd obviously have to lose a big name to acquire the picks to trade for him though..

if we could ship out petracca for jackson i'd be ecstatic

Windhager wonโ€™t happen if Nasiah goes. Be surprised if it happens if he stays to be honest, feels more like hot air than anything.

Khamis looks like he wants out at the Dogs. They are low-balling Treloar too. His body is cooked but he has been an amazing player.

If Bucks comes, forget Treloar.

i think we've been linked to him sporadically throughout the year

I am trying to operate more from a world of reality, not fantasy.

Forgot about those two. Couldnโ€™t take Treloar based on his body being cooked anyway. Top 20 player in the league only very recently though

Unless itโ€™s a ruck I donโ€™t think we should consider anybody over 24. Never mind a 32 year old whoโ€™s body is cooked.

Didnt want to start a new thread, but some trade ramifications.

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera apparently 2 year extension at Saints for $2m a year. ๐Ÿ˜ต

With this monster contract, the Windhager deal must be pursued hard now

Why does Windhager want to leave the Saints so badly?

Think it's more Saints throwing $2m at NWM, $1.7m at TDK, $800K at Leek Aleer (same wage as Cal Wilkie) - and giving unders to some other players.

Should be 3-4 million a year if compared to what we are paying some of our butchers.

I hear Saints only offering Windhager 2 year deal

I'd offer 4 - he has really developed this year.

I am personally happy that he's sticking with the Saints. At least for now.

It's good for the game when smaller clubs keep their stars, and he is one hell of a star.

Itโ€™s one afl player per side going to Tassie, in fact if GWS and GC are a guide theyโ€™ll probably sign about 10 legit afl players at most and few delisting, semi retired guys.

That wonโ€™t impact the value of list cloggers. If anything now is the time to take on a bunch of fresh kids so we arenโ€™t reliant on draft picks when the list concessions bump them all out

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
