It is very hard to compete with some clubs for players.

๐Ÿ‘Cotton On.

๐Ÿ‘ย Surfing.

๐Ÿ‘ŽFarming. Tractor work too risky. Might get his hair caught in the PTO.

Hawks have reportedly offered Josh Battle a six year dealย

Weโ€™re still interested but no reported offer from us yetย

wants to be an inside midfielderย

wouldn't be in the dogs' best 5 starting inside mid types behind bontempelli, liberatore, richards, macrae, and treloar

Gonna be a Jeremy Howe situation all over again.ย

If it was an issue of inside midfield minutes, Baz would be playing as an inside mid in 2025 for the Dogs

Obviously he doesn't like Beveridge and/or his team mates

Reid reportedly worth $18M for 10 years. ย Thatโ€™s a nice pay packet. From what Iโ€™ve seen of the kid, heโ€™ll be worth every penny. If we are not moving heaven and earth to make cap space we are plain stupid.ย

6 years is a lot for Josh Battle. Good player, but heโ€™s no Weitering/Sam Taylor

He'd look super with his blonde hair and one of those hairbands too. It's like he's almost there already

50m up in the air, 40m downfield

He'd be good company with Clarry then

And is potentially an acl injury away from ruining a teams cap space if theyโ€™re silly enough to offer him that length of contract.

We won't have to worry about it.

He won't be coming to us.

It will be the Bombers or another big club if he leaves WC.

We already have a concussed retired player, a severely injured one and another with issues, all on long and large contracts to worry about.

concussion would be more of an issue

acl is, relatively speaking, something than be recovered from with time and training but a 'medical retirement' forced upon a player due to abnormal brainwaves cannot be reversed

I hope we are right into Davies-Uniacke even if it's a hail mary and he's unlikely to leave. Exactly what we need

Itโ€™s silly until it wins you 1-2 flags. We offered these monster contracts post flag era as we thought we would have 1-2 more. In hindsight maybe not the best move.ย

This is the problem with attracting free agents- you have to pay them more than they are worth both in terms of dollars and length.
I wonder if whatโ€™s happened with Gus and Clarry have us a little gun shy of offering big long term contracts.ย

We've got plenty of players on absurdly long contracts, I've seen no evidence of us changing tack.ย

You're a plodder in the VFL, Bailey Laurie, here's a contract until 2026. Here are contracts to take you into your mid 30s Steven May and Max Gawn.ย

would happily give battle a six year deal

versatile talls who impact in the air and at ground level don't grow on trees

he's only 25, will only be 31 when he next comes out of contract

Just out of curiosity i saw on tv last night that Rowbottom from Swans has purchased a house in Prahran, also that about 6 MFC players have nominated to become members of Huntingdale golf club when it reopens late next year ,those players included Harry Petty.

Despite his form issues so far this season, Iโ€™d love if Harry signed new contract. Be a nice little pick me up if both him and Langers signed on the dotted line sometime soon.ย
@Dannyzย any updates on either of them?

Just reading the afl site and mentioned Sam Berry has put off contract talks with Adelaide until the end of the year. While no world beater he's a tough mid that loves to tackle and could be good depth or a handy player to use as a tagger since they're back in vogue. Should come relatively cheap.

is he rfa? ufa?

otherwise, crom will want a second rounder for him you'd think

Just out of contract. Former pick 28, so doubt they will get much more than a 3rd rounder if he wants to leave.

We gave Clarry and Trac 7 years, and Gus 5 and Gus retired not a year into the contract.

That's the risk you have to take these days to keep or lure the best of the best without being done for salary cap cheating.

ย

Can we nominate some likely playersย

Return to Vic ??

Players squeezed out of their teams best 22?

Players who might need a fresh start?ย

Players seeking long term contract of 3+ years?

Free agents?ย

Iโ€™d like to nominate Angus Sheldrick. Heโ€™s shown high quality ability but had injury concerns. ย Still only 21. ย Swans have stacked midfield and we could offer a bright future position. ย

I don't get as much intel as I once did but the last thing I heard is that Petty is keen to get back to Adelaide.ย

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... itโ€™s time to discuss this weekโ€™s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliverโ€™s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line โ€ฆ Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the clubโ€™s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the clubโ€™s perspective, and the teamโ€™s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarksonโ€™s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed โ€” roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.ย  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
