Tyson Stengle

Unrestricted free agent. Exactly the type of player we need to target. Would allow us to push Kozi into the middle more, and not lose craft up forward.

He kicks goals and has speed…

Wow. Just imagine that😎

don’t worry.. with  good coaching we can can rid him of those habits.

Another dubious third rate  player, will go ok alongside other champions, Fullerton, McAdam , Hunter, Billings and the Sashenator, right down Taylor’s alley.

Not happy with our decline, let’s dig down a bit deeper.

If Bailey smith chooses the Cats you’d think the dogs would be all over this

Not if he's an unrestricted free agent

At the reported $800,000 the media are sprouting you could pick up a topline midfielder.

You probably can’t these days, not as a free agent anyway. But we should be targeting mids and talls with any big cash offers.

Stengle’s a class player but paying him top of the line money makes sense for Essendon who have a huge hole there rather than us.

He has kicked 27 goals
One less than Fritsch and 10 more than our next goal highest goal scorer in Pickett who has 17…

Yeah, but who is our next coach that can make these changes???

I am unsure if Stafford is to blame for our forward woes.

Poor delivery from upfield is not his area. I have seen our forwards make space and be totally ignored, or a mis kick pass cruel them. Long bombs into the forward line are again not his area I would think.

Do we blame Stafford for dropped marks, poor goal kicking maybe.

There is more wrong with us than the forward coach.

I watch it from behind the goals Red and the errors, flaws and poor craft stand out like the proverbial.

👉🏼  Lack of separation

👉🏼  STILL too many going up together with no one down

👉🏼  Three seasons and Kozzy is still going for speckie of the year.  Often spoiling his team mate in the process and also not there for the crumb.

Unforgiveable this is still happening after that long.

👉🏼  Most or all forwards running away from a pressured ball carrier coming through the middle or off a wing far too often.  Doesn't always happen but it's far too often.

Under this scenario the pressured kicker will often dump it shallow straight into the basket of an oppo defensive sweeper who has read the play better.

👉🏼  Attempting to play small mediums or mediums at true CHF for serious minutes.  I understand you have to try things and mix things up.  Present a diff look and test your opponents.  But this is a tactic that should be a rare surprise if standard structures arent't working.  Not a regular 'go to'.

👉🏼  Smalls, Mediums & even HF - Mids running into the leading lanes of designated hit ups disrupting their attemps to mark on a lead.

I've seen (from behind the goals) Fritta & Melk (last season) yelling in frustration a number of times for rookies and seasoned players to get the hell out.

👉🏼  Non desgnated hit up forwards do not provide enough blocks / chop outs in general in order to assist marking forwards gain space / time on their opponents.

👉🏼  Not enough dumby leads by non designated stay-at-home forwards in order to clear out the forward 50 for pack crashing / marking forwards and crumbers like JVR & Kozzy.

The only players with genuine leading patterns and / craft ...

BBB & Melk ... when playing

Fritta... when he decides to bring it

That's just from recent memory.

You see a fair bit from behind the goals that you don't see from the wing on the box.

Fair enough.

My vision is as you said, from the wing or on TV.

Fairly comprehensive 😊

A yes to Stengle for mine. He'd be ahead of Chandler.

If we do what I think we should do and revert to a forward half territory game, we need more x factor at ground level. It means slower entries become more dangerous if we get them to ground and repeat stoppages inside 50 would also face a better chance of being converted with more x factor.

Which is why I hope we also target Rachele.

IMV we've had a style that suits x factor smalls, which is why Kozzy has shone in our system. Problem we've had is we don't have any other x factor smalls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
