It’s their home game so they control all the ‘activations’ pregame and halftime. Even if it was our home game it wouldn’t happen anyways. The most we were free to do in round one was to all wear Gussy helmets, but we can’t wear them on Monday since we’ll be wearing this year’s Big Freeze beanie.

I’ve been PM’d some awesome banner content suggestions from posters on here. Thing is, I doubt they’d even be considered. Remember, the AFL don’t want the Gus travesty highlighted, for obvious reasons 😑

You’re saying that some thing gus related would be kyboshed by the AFL stasi?

Of course! Pretty much everything we do has to be signed off by the AFL. They don’t want attention drawn to this, attention won’t be drawn to it. End of story.

Unbelievable.

Be fked if they get any more of my money.

[censored] that. Rather give me money to the Augusta National for spectator entry fees, or any of the Open courses.

And people laugh off conspiracy theories

We are hurting

an unMelbourne like performance

looking like JVR will be fit to go

no training loads

missed Lever but Tommo and Tmcd covered the prior week ok

pride Ourselves on contested footy

lots of spin

goody lost me with the “lean in” phrase … another new corporate phrase like “Hands-in”’aka a team meeting or “pivot” aka to change something

Simon … if you must, please “pivot” the team away from overhandballing overhandballing overhandballing !!! Killing us with turnovers and skill errors and cut off so predictably

I love our boys, but the filth people just do my head in.

I presume you're a paid up member of the club?

Add a couple of fiendish Dick Dastardly tricks and we'll be guffawing like Mutley!

i was never going to make it down and just found out that Bridge Road Brewery will have the match on the big screen here in Beechworth.  Ben Kraus ( who has led the brewery since inception with Maria) is a bombers supporter, and interested in seeing how we perform and how the bombers can match up to the best, so has arranged for the coverage.  I did have a BBQ planned with a blues supporting mate who always supports the dees against any other side. He is still sufferable. But I will be a poor loser tomorrow should that happen and concerned that the brewery might attract some Collingwood supporters, Ill be trying to direct them to the Nicholas Hotel where mine host is a rabid Collingwood supporter .

Any other Demons in town coming down to the brewery?

I get conniptions on hearing some of the terminology Goody uses. I really hope this isn't how he speaks to the players and is just reserved for media conferences.

Yes - annoying. I’m now able to go, but can’t get any tickets at all, even with Trident membership, which I think gives access to GA tix for away games in Melbourne? Looks like it wil be a 100k blockbuster?

Really interested in selection this week.

Why the delay and goody saying let's take 24 hours more and sleep on a possible decision.

I sense something big?

Isn't that all the more reason to do something.  Doesn't have to be official cheer squadn action, surely?

In Moyhu here enjoying the sunshine. Lots of breath testing stations around this weekend. Last night covered all exits/entries Snow Rd-Wang Whitfield Rd. Lots of wineries and Breweries open for their big weekend. Enjoy the brewery and the match!.:)

When do the teams come out?

Im really hoping the Kolt comes in for Mcadam. Think he deserves another crack.

Oliver ‘managed’ is my guess

Incredibly unlikely IMO. Clarrie has been going OK, just not at his usual sensational best.

With the bye one week away I will be amazed if anyone is out "managed". When was the last time that happened at selection for us?

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
