Petty is woefully out of form. Maybe just not a forward I guess. It happens.

You can't say that!!

EVERYONE has saying he was " the answer" after about 3 games last year.

Sounds trivial?

It isn't and wont be come final time.

Lol we are at 28 points, Port at 32 - enjoy the win!

Positives. 4 points and Tomlinson

Negatives. Too conservative again and slow moving ball.

St Kilda were pathetic.

At the end of the day hell triumphs over heaven yet again.

Not a perfect win but still a good one.

Pity we got smashed by the 2nd worst team in the comp last week ain’t it

Might be the catharsis required to shake off the mid-season lethargy. Top four you need fight to stay up there.

To say nothing of the rubbish they served up last week.

Great to see a dominant 1st quarter. We've been too slow out of the traps recently.

Set shots better but still room to improve. we were 4-9 at one stage but thankfully found our shooting boots after that.

Good last quarter from Clarry. he hasn't been his normal beast mode self recently. hopefully that's the springboard to return to top form.

All in all a good days work at the G.

Enjoyed the awe in Dangerfield’s voice when talking about Gawn. Marshall is meant to be one of the elite rucks going around and Max treated him with disdain.

It shouldn’t get lost that we are watching an all time great every week.

This win gives me confidence we're still a contender. Liked having Salem back in his old role given he'd been pushed into the middle with an extra defender in the side. Defensive unit had the right balance, Tommo is a great Lever insurance but probably just that. Hunter had a strong return showing. Gawn is still scarily dominant even with an injury niggle. On the other hand, don't know how the Saints have managed to go downhill this much in such a short time.

Would love to have gotten a bit more out of Petty and McAdam, but ok to persist with this forward set up until Melksham comes into the fold. Langdon's got a bit of unutilised forward craft.

I agree, we can’t keep trying to find positives, give Jeffo a go or Tmac forward or Thommo forward, let’s face it 5 possessions a game would be a bonus

Anyone who has been going to the games noticed how nice Tmac’s kicks have been looking? Hits the ball at its lowest point, and its resulting in absolute bullets.

The fact that Port have won an extra game would have made that difficult Einstein.

For those laying into McAdam, it’s a bit rough. 2nd game. It’ll take time to find his feet and rhythm at this level, in a new team. I thought he got into some good spots. He’ll be fine. Got to give these guys some time! Even if it was smart strategy to drop guys after 2 rounds, we don’t have the depth for that!

Agree, containing Gawn is a whole team effort. Just on another level to his peers. Didn't think he'd be doing this 3 years after the flag

Nibbla 27 @ 74%, 12 contested and 2 goal assists, 11 centre bounce attendances, he’s above a role player now 👏🏻

would’ve been nice to win by 50 instead of 38 but we’d put the cue in the rack and benched Max and a couple of others. Did what we needed to do and comfortably beat a weak opponent.

Am I convinced we’re back? No but it’s better than last week.

Gee the saints are SH eeee T.

Thats the softest AFL midfield I’ve seen since we got called Bruise Free in 2011.

Hard to take much out of that. If we were any good we would have been 8 goals up at half time.

Stafford needs to go at the end of the year. Can we get an actual modern day forward coach?

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
