Call an exorcist!

Only if we can keep up with the payments.   Otherwise we might get repossessed.

I think won one. Versus North in 2022 at Docklands .

That was our 10th win on the trot and it was not a convincing win.  After that game  we lost the next two in a row.

May have also been the game where T-Mac hurt his foot and Lingers had his ribs broken?

As a paid up member nobody bothered to ask me about whether I wanted my team renamed

says it all really

long live the MFC

Like when they came round to ask you about jumper design, logos, and flogging home games interstate?

I don't give a toss if we change the name or not, but the way some people carry on you'd think we're playing under the name Al Qaida.

If Perty does happen to be reading I prefer the jumper without the little MFC badge under the Zurich ad so if we can get rid of it that would be good. Seems like our win/loss ratio is worse since we put it on there too.

No issues being narrm for a couple of weeks..

Obviously the name has nothing to do with the losses.

But I'll be pleased when this sort of utter tripe ends.

Thanks Tucker 👍

Under all of your examples we play as MFC so fail to see how any of that is relevant

I don’t think you realise how much he appreciates that.

@binman might argue that the Narrm rounds happen at the same time each year (late-May), when the club is putting certain efforts into fitness…

It certainly does seem to coincide with the time of season.

Maybe we should be narm in the preseason only, if at all

Viet-narm

Harold Holt went all the way with LBJ. (Or as the joke doing the rounds at the time had it, Zara did.) Normie Rowe, Ho Chi Minh, General Westmoreland, Tet Offensive Jane Fonda, Vietcong, Nui Dat, Conscription, The Moratorium, Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger, Paris Peace conference.

At least the music was good…

Our evolutionary focus on pattern recognition, a key to our survival, is not always correct. The brain excels at finding meaning in randomness, a skill that once helped us anticipate threats and opportunities. However, this can lead to confirmation bias – we overemphasize coincidences that fit our existing beliefs.

It's a fascinating paradox: our very strength in pattern recognition can create psychological vulnerabilities when faced with the randomness of life.

Try "Chaos Theory"

there is an order in chaos just need data to identify the patterns, etc.

Has Naarm lost four finals in a row?

If they’d played in 4 I think it’s fair to say they would have been humbled in 4

Bottom 2 side

It’s almost like Melbourne and Naarm are the same team 🤔

rumour has it North don’t want to change their name to North Narrm as they are worried about losing games under the new name

Win loss ratio would suggest they are not

They seem to have that covered already - unless they are playing Narrm in which they may look like champs for a half

IMO this whole thread is disrespectful to MFC and in particular to its indigenous players and officials.

Moderator should note some of the unsavoury comments and act appropriately.

What other very easily identifiable observable realities do you incorrectly assess with win loss ratios?

We should change to Narrm permanently. It has more relevance than the name of some 19th century British lord.

Maybe there is some ancient Indigenous ceremony that wards off evil spirits that could be conducted before Narrm play next time? 😁

Yes there is a guy up in Armidale apparently gets rid of bad sprits or so im am informed

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
