He could probably do with a rest anyway

It probably saves Disco from a week or 2 at Casey.
it also gives JVR a chance to potentially get some confidence at Casey next week.

I wonder if he will travel to Perth anyway to catch up with family?  Pity he can't get to perform in their presence.

I would suspect that he will return to the team once ready - doubt if he will play at Casey.  (May depend on the timing of concussion protocols and of the Casey game)

But it will be interesting who they play in Perth - BBB maybe as he seemed to get plenty of the ball at the weekend.  Or maybe Fullerton to give Max some chop out as well.  Who else could be the back up ruck? Petty maybe?

I don't know - how are the WCE rucks?  (Far, far  left field - ?? Verrall to debut as Max's deputy??)

I think that the Geelong game may have been the only AFL game this season that we finished with everyone uninjured.

It's that kind of year

Having to watch Tom Morris smugly reporting this is nauseating.

Doubt it...from what I've seen he struggles in the ruck.

The entire family have all moved into the Wizard of Kozzies Melbourne bungalow after his post convinced the club to sack Ben Brown and recruit Sammy Van Rooyen in the mid season draft

The other night when I was outside the ground I saw him & TJ. One is extremely awkward & the other one you wouldn't tell your secret to because he'd tell everyone

In case you don't understand JVR won’t play VFL  He is out with concussion!!

Or are  you suggesting he will play VFL the following week?

The following week. I’m assuming his replacement will play well and we will win comfortably.

JVR’s form hasn’t been strong enough to walk straight back in so I’d love to see them give him a week to play out of his skin. Which I think he would.

If JvR does play at Casey the following week it will give us hopefully an exciting glimpse of him and Jefferson paired up in the same forward line.

And we hear today that Turner and Fullerton have new injuries.

Deja vu late 2023 😮😢

How far off really is Melksham???

He will come straight back in.

No offense to our next two opponents, but I rather have injuries now than in September.

JVR and Turner are both minor, and McAdams is a week away.
Ben Brown seems to be in good form (goal kicking aside), and is a very solid replacement for Disco.

Petty and TMac will need to do some ruck work to help Gawn out this week is my guess.

Am I alone in thinking it bizarrely ironic that it's  JVR affected by concussion !!

What a shame. Likely to play his best in front of family and friends.

Despite seemingly dropping in form this year to last year he's still very young in game experience.

I really believe Jvr is going to have a big future at this club. He will fiil out more and once he starts clunking everything than yippee.

I wish he didn't have to help in the centre ruck so he can just concentrate on his fwd craft.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
