Expand That's true, but also if the umpire on just 2 occasions did the right thing, we would have one goal more from the rubbish dangerous tackle disallowed goal and they would have one goal less, from the incorrect ruck out on the full to Pittonet, who was the one who hit it out and giving them a goal. That gives us a 2 goal win. That is ignoring multiple other incorrect decisions, which of course can happen in a game. Here is the real question though, in each of the last 3 games against the Blues, all won by them by less than a goal, how many controversial decisions went our way instead of Carlton's. I have no doubt the crowd affects umpires and that is a fault with our game. 13 1 Quote

leave it to deever 17,621 Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I don't understand why unlike us, the umpires came storming out of the blocks and gave the blues 11 frees in the first quarter to our 3 and then only awarded 8 more to them for the rest of the game. I also didn't get why for 3 quarters of the game they completely ignored htb and then decided to pay it non stop. The htb particularly frustrating because we were not getting our tack to es rewarded. It must be hard for the players when one rule comes and goes in the course of a single game. Also the dob seems to be a coin toss . One which blues got the benefit of at least three times and one seemingly influenced by who has the most supporters. It's hard not to think the umpires had a Carlton win plan last night. That Jvr free for dangerous tackle was a shocker and umpires need to be better than that. 6 1 Quote
In Harmes Way 7,871 Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 I found myself saying in the first quarter that the umpires don't need to find a free kick in every contest. But they did a good job in trying. 1 Quote

Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 The one that gets me is when Curnow comes flying through, collects Rivers high and he has to go off with the blood rule bleeding from the head and it's no free kick to Rivers. The AFL are supposed to be protecting the head, not their favourite players. 4 2 Quote

drdrake 3,203 Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 There is no question the umpires have been told to let the game go and as long as the ball is moving the AFL is happy. The incorrect disposal rule doesn't exist, get tackled drop it play on, get tackled try to dispose of it and you get pinged. The common sense in the deliberate oob doesn't exist, pay a free kick get the ball moving. Tackle someone spin them 360 as long as the ball comes out play on. Minimise stopages make the game faster for TV. Umpires just have so much going on, add this clear AFL instructions and they just have no chance 1 Quote
