Who cares about the media. Demonland provides the only affirmation I need of how good we really are.

Yeah that's a good point. I suppose it's more of an overall elevation this season. He's always been good but he seems to be more commanding than ever and I wonder if it's something to do with seeing himself taking on the captaincy after Max.

There is no doubt an element of that too.

Tmac has surely gone back in time and become the player he was.

But the other big name and player is Lever. He is back to his career best and certainly has reminded us of why we obtained him. I thought the last couple of years while being good he wasn't at his best.

We certainly saw that last Saturday. He is back to matching winning form. His intercept marking his the best about. As good as All Australian Maysie. How lucky are we to have those two in the form they are in now joined by a reinvented Tmac.

Getting Bowey and Salo back in there will see our backline as good as it gets. Not that it ain't already.

And as for players getting back to their best, Oliver is certainly there or almost. His disposals in the first half weren' but his second half was vintage Clarry and a big part of our victory. And finally on this theme, hip hip for Langers who was right there with him.

What a week where everything seems afresh again.

From a stellar effort in S.A to our lions loss and flat win over the tigers to this.

I so hope we put away the blues in a huge statement. To make up for their lucky win against us in last year's finals and to throw down the gauntlet to all and sundry that we are the team to watch out for.

That after an unlucky straight sets finals loss we were the real contender for last year's flag. That the Gus incident was why pies won and robbed us of a genuine chance.

I really want to see the blues absolutely buried. And it's not like we can't.

You’re all a bit sensitive aren’t you? “We won but Chris Scott and the media aren’t fawning over us” Who gives a toss, we’re clearly the team to beat. We play finals type football and we have the talent on every line. We also have McAdam, Bowey, Hunter, Salem and BBB as possible ins. I’m not sure what I was worried about in the preseason……..oh I know, the thought of May and Gawn getting injured.

I'd rather the media keep us underrated or give us no airtime. Suits me fine. I reckon we always play better as underdogs or when not touted as favorites. Let's mark our time stay in the top four until like 21 become minor premiers from our last h and a wins and blow everyone away come September again.

scott was pretty upbeat in the press conference and with good reason - they were missing arguably two their starting midfielders and their key forwards couldn't split the middle

Yeah I found Geelong's decision to rest BOTH of O'Connor and Parfitt interesting on the same weekend they lost Danger. Though they would've rested one or the other.

Not sure if it was arrogance, were willing to cop a loss at 7-0, or just playing the long game.

Not taking anything away from our win, and it's not as if those both those players are A grade guns.

We had 5 players on 10 games or less. And McVee and JVR on 28 games and 33 games respectively

We were a very young side out there. Maybe they underestimated us.

Haven't seen one media commentator point out our young team. Its all Geelong were off. Crapola

Last time the media fawned over us was in the build up to the Brisbane game, they jinxed us.

Happy to fly under the radar as much as possible

Given what’s been in the news recently, I doubt these guys were rested. Both are in their mid 20’s

Parfitt and O’Connor are hardly top liners. Dangerfield out was the helper

The Roar article and to some extent the guardian articles as well listed earlier in this thread banged on about how boring the game was for the first three quarters.

I may be a bit biased but I found the whole contest quite riveting. It was a wonderful arm wrestle all night.

It wasn't just boring stoic defence from us. The cats got out on numerous occasions but our defence was frenetic on scrambling back to stop them. I find that really entertaining to watch.

14 behinds in a row, not as much but I think that reflected the pressure of the game on both sides.

I loved every minute of it, not just the last quarter.

Our ability to defend is a thing of beauty.

Tanner Bruhn, who is turning out to be a much better player than I imagined, also missed the second half.

Geelong may have found another though in Jhye Clark, who I thought looked very impressive.

scott said they withdrew bruhn because they wanted to inject rohan into the game earlier for his speed and ability to carry the ball etc.

Coaches votes are up. Confirm Scott is a complete [censored].

His players were "off" but he proceeded to give most of his votes to his own team.

He has given Holmes and Guthrie the 5 and 4.

Other interesting insight is Goody didnt give May any votes (presumably). There is a combination where he does give Maysie 1 vote albeit at the expense of Gawn.

VOTES

Max Holmes (GEEL)
6
Zach Guthrie (GEEL)
5
Jake Lever (MELB)

How does Holmes top the charts?

Yes he was very good but he had the same number of disposals as Oliver with 31.

Sure Clarry's decision making in the first half wasn't his best but his final quarter was scintillating and set up our win I reckon.

So Holmes 8.

Clarry 0.

????????

And again Zac Guthrie 6.

Clarry 0.

And surely both Lever and May were both better than Holmes.

Something not quite right here.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
