I have thought long and hard about this game. I will be there tonight, only a good first quarter will see us get the chocolates. Even then I don't see our forward line kicking a winning score. Sadly cats by 3 goals.

Come on OD a bit of confidence.

How good is to have a game vs Geelong NOT in Geelong (first time since R4, 2021)

I'm interested to see how they play Petracca today. O'Connor not being named would suggest they aren't going to have anyone sit on him, but after the relative success Brisbane & Richmond had I'm curious to see what they have up their sleeve. Surely they wont let him run around doing as he pleases?

Tracc is on his way to having his best season yet. He's really busting the lines well.

Just needs to take Yzes advice to ANB a year or so ago and take that breath before offloading or kicking that goal on the run.

Enjoy the game tonight everyone. I've got a feeling it will be a cracker.

Go Dees

Also would like a massive collective lift from our midfield who have been treading water of late.

Couldn’t have said it better.

Mids need to get back and give our defence some help, then also need to motor to give options in the forward line. 2-way running please.

Two words: replacement [censored] buses. Yep, it’s our train line’s lucky weekend. 🤬

Allow plenty of extra time and a truckload of patience, coz you’re gonna need it. Same for going home afterwards.

Heads up, @Rab D Nesbitt!

Yes, I discovered that sad fact when I checked the timetable earlier.

Consequently, I shall take the manorial dog ute for a spin and, being a responsible quaffer, limit my booze intake to a sensible 2 pots per quarter. ( plus a couple pregame of course )

Thanks for looking out for me WCW. Luckily my place is almost equidistant to Ardeer station so I can catch a Ballarat V-Line train into Southern X and hopefully get the last one at night back again. Alas this means no post game drinkypoos.

Train are also replacing buses on the Pakenham line FYI.

I am all for upgrading the railway system, but for crying out loud how long does it take?!!!

Goody made a wonderful backhander to the AFL in his presser when he stated we don’t get to play the cats very often at the MCG.

So, for all those who whinge about how we’ve always got this as an away game, pleas get along tonight to try and push this honour on to someone else.

I know this is a typo but it does almost feel like buses are the default service, interspersed with the occasional convenience of a train replacing it.

Wheels on the bus going round and round between Ringwood and Burnley too. But unsurprisingly didn't start until 11:30 last night. Wouldn't behappening if Bracks was still Premier

It is such a great feeling now, going to any game knowing we have a good chance of winning. The Premiership in 2021 changed everything - I am generally much more relaxed about footy in general.

I can't see the Cats attack being as potent as it has the last 7 rounds. Our defensive organisation rarely allows teams more than 80 points, often under 65.

Sparrow to run with Myers.

Petty to run with Stewart.

Kozzie, Chandler & Fritsch will be our major goal scorers.

Admire your level of confidence. For the most part it has been the same with me for the last three years.

But the last two games have given me reason for pause. Even if we play well I wouldn't be surprised if we lost this. It's not unreasonable since they are undefeated. It's our last two games that have me unnerved. That said if we do manage to beat the Cats it's a huge boost to our confidence and chances towards a flag. If we can recapture and bring the same to level of intensity and commitment we took to Adelaide we could very well do it.

Exactly right. Give the AFL a reason to stop scheduling us down at Taxpayers Park, like they do with the big clubs.

If we turn up and get 60k+ they will definitely continue to reward us with MCG games against the Cats, even if they are 'away' ones.

For me it’s about keeping them to the 60-70pts.  Our game is still evolving, so if we can get this bit right, the result for me is less important.  I think we will win by about 17 points, though!

Harrison Petty to have a big game. Watch last week again and noted how he’s in the right spot, muffed a few shots but is really close to doing damage. Plus brings a defensive aggression to our forward line, ball to ground making space for Kozzie and the mids…

looking forward to the game!

Go demons!

I agree. Some pundits citing fitness issues. But he's making it to a lot of competitions. I really think most of his lack of form is a confidence in issue. A big game from home would go a long way into a win today. Here's hoping. Go Petty.

Am I the only one that would have BBB in for Petty??

Yep l would, Petty has been so unbelievably poor, he doesn’t deserve a 3rd or 4th chance

Good morning Worid. I’m awake …… and how are we all on this lovely day?

Me? Well, thank you for asking. I am confident, very confident.

if someone were to walk up to me and ask in a low voice “How are the Dees going to go tonight?”

I would stand tall, look them in the eye smile my smile that is almost, but not quite a sneer and respond “Beautifully. Our ground, Our time, Our team. The effing Cats do not stand a chance.”

…….. and then I would walk quietly away.

Dees to win…. As if you needed to ask.

Pointsbet offering odds of $9 for a Geelong win for a $10 bet. Good insurance I would have thought.

I caught the train to Murrumbeena from Richmond last night but today it is only trains to Caulfield then you can switch to Frankston Line heading into the city, so minimal extra time for the Cranbourne/Pakenham Lines travellers.

HUUUGE night for a certain 17yo girl who’ll be sitting in the cheer squad in between Pauline Fritsch and me at tonight’s game.

Jade has cerebral palsy, she communicates by typing on her iPad, has a feeding tube, walks in a slow, laboured way, and is a massive Dees fan, absolutely adores 31, as she refers to him. We’ve taken her to AFLW matches without incident but until now we weren’t sure if she was ready for a men’s match. Pauline and I have been planning for the perfect opportunity since early last year and tonight’s the night!

She doesn’t know she’s going. We’re not telling her until just before the match. She will absolutely lose her mind! 🥰

So if you see a diminutive girl with an away jumper with 31 on the back in the cheer squad… that’s Jade. ❤️💙

PS: Jade was told she needed braces. She got them last week and what colour braces did she choose? Red and blue (of course)!

All credit to you WCW.

Hope Jade enjoys a big Dee’s win.

Mostly love Demonland for this sort of binary analysis. 🫠🤷‍♀️

A win gets us a game clear in the top 4, takes a big scalp, and hopefully gives us good confidence for next week and a tricky month ahead.

A loss sees us slip behind the top sides, will have Demonland baying for blood, and will be extra frustrating given it’s Geelong.

Well today is my last night of an epic holiday in NZ, I will be watching from Queenstown. I really really don’t want to be boarding a plane tomorrow heading back to reality in a grumpy mood. Please Melbourne FC play well and win.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
