It's Game Day and the two oldest teams in the competition, the Demons and the Cats, come face to face in a true 8 point game. The Cats are unbeaten after 8 rounds whilst the Dees will be keen to take a scalp and stamp their credentials on the 2024 season. May the 4th Be With You Melbourne.

I actually am thinking towards seasons end in terms of just show me something (I think we’re actually we’re actually working towards to be in place by seasons end) to make go yep I can see it. The result whilst I want to win is secondary

We're talking game style here and ability to execute it? And specifically, the back to front slingshot transition, winning whilst conceding territory or...?

Yes I can see the slingshot quick through the corridor movement were looking for setting up deeper than pressing up and locking it in with repeated entries as our only plan.  I really like it, looking forward to 25 in a similar vein to seeing us develop our team defence in 20. But you never know we may progress quicker than expected

Well this is a big one.

I'm not sure how good the Scats are but ... neither am I certain how good we are. Consequently, your good old Uncle Bitter is sallying forth from The Manor tonight to find an answer.

I believe we will win this game on the strength of our superb defenders.

Dawkins has been quiet of late and , you would think due to fire, but if he escapes any flailing elbows, May will be too good.

There's been speculation about who takes care of Cameron but I reckon it has to be Tmac. He has the tank to run with him and the body work and nous to counter Cameron's expected advantage in agility.

Our mids will win ( Danger out helps ) and surely Viney is due for a big bone crunching impact game.

Forwards ??? Hopefully Petty finally finds some form and some goals. I'm not sure about Disco yet but if he can snag a couple in this setting we will know a lot more. Hopefully one, or ideally both of the above get into the game early as it will take some heat off Fritta and allow him to do what he does best.  He is our key forward.

Kozzie, as always, will have the defenders on edge and a couple of goals from the mids will also be welcome.

PS. Rohan is a prime goose.

I really want to beat the Cats. Seeing them 7-0 and sitting pretty on top of the ladder is nauseating.

But to give the devil is due they are very well coached, have been executing their game plan superbly and in Jeremy Cameron have the most damaging player in the comp. It will be a tough assignment.

Would be a perfect time for Petty to rediscover his form. He has been a shadow of himself since returning from injury

I'm not confident but with some luck we might just get over the line.

Oh dear this is a big game.

That confidence I had of yesteryear is slowly diminishing.

If we win this it will be back in time for the blues game.

Come on Petty remind us why were worried about you being poached.

And Jvr we give you the roo chant so can you please clunk a few more.

A must win game for genuine flag contention.

What a way to start Game Day. Reading the Age's back page lead article this morning on big Max. Greatest ruckman of this century says Luke Darcy (with Cox), and has most AA selections of any ruckman, level with Madden and Cox.

Nice one Max.

But leadership qualities to go with it.  Like watching Petracca and co its a blessing to be watching this team and probably a generational talent pool of a players group.

Worth a pre-game read to settle the nerves.

From the parts of last nights game I did see, I saw two teams move the ball very quickly and Collingwood kick to an open fwd line and back their players in 1 on 1. We always seem very congested, I’d like to see that change tonight.

Time to step up or shut up.  Time to deliver.  Cats are a top team.  Strengths across the park.  Genuine superstar in Cameron.   We need to show that we are still a serious contender.  All the recent news is about the Cats, Blues, Giants, Swans, Power, ‘Pies are back’, ‘Bombers are rising’ and we are forgotten.   We are not to be forgotten.  Lift.  Trac.  Clarry.  JV7.  This will be a pressure cooker. Finals like atmosphere.  A big game. Let’s show that we’re not a falling star and have plenty of talent and determination left. Go Dees. Fire up 🔥

Game day baby. Pumped!

I just watched round 4, 2021 at the G v cats. May went off early after a Hawkins “accidental” elbow to the face. We still won.

Good times. Go Dees!

See you at the G.

Our last game was appaling but the moggies are due for a loss.

Need our best players playing well to win, if Clarry, Trac and Viney can get going to their normal standards we’ll go close, then we just need to hold Cameron and we should have done enough

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
