there's at least 7 blokes that get a game with us. It's not that bad.

Sure. On paper. But as a unit

IT DOES NOT GET RESULTS

how often have the Dogs been in the Top 4 over the last 8-9 years

Bevo has to be in trouble. Their list cannot be producing as poor football as they’re producing. Confusing selection, confusing messaging, it’s all a bit of a shambles.

Meanwhile the 8 might almost be set? Collingwood in for Essendon might be the only change. GC, Dogs and St Kilda don’t look good enough, whilst I’m not sure Adelaide or Brisbane will win enough to claw their way past a side other than Essendon (Port? Freo?).

Isn’t this the point?

This list should be doing better than it is. Hence why Beveridge is under pressure?

I think he's a dreadful coach and have been saying as much for years. I know he won them a flag and got them into a grand final, so he has those results on the board, but nevertheless my gut says the dogs have gotten there in spite of beveridge not because of him.

But who knows? The Media talk them up like silk, but they haven’t performed. Beveridge could well be getting the best out of them already

It’s been long enough

Given Lions have no subs, they may well run out of puff. GC really are a pretty pathetic franchise though.

Brissy, namely Zorko, caught on at least two occasions attempting to fend off.  Sometimes breaking the first tackle.  Then caught again, drops the ball to his feet yet "play on" is the call.

Umps are killing the game and continue to refuse to award good tackles time and time again.

Who's teaching them this rubbish!

It’s getting worse and the Cameras are getting sharper!!!

Same with incorrect disposal, that is not hard to ejudicate, So do it

Reward the tackler, if it is implemented correctly

The Suns are a joke.

Anyone know if stats are available to the public, that if one player, or two etc becomes injured... how much each remaining player increases their exertion levels to cover that loss? 10% 15% 20%? anyone got any ideas?

The Gold Coast suns are the worst sporting experiment in the history of the AFL. Absolute stain on the resources of the every other club in the league. Their licence should be torn up and just send the players to Tasmania.

They can use that stadium at GC for the Olympics!

It's astonishing.  Four umps are unable to see a player fending, having prior and incorrectly disposing on so many occasions.

I get they will miss a fair percentage due to having their sight obstructed and so many around the ball.  Not expecting perfect outcomes by any means.

Mac Andrews just then.  It bounces off both of his hands.  McCanerny then sharks the spill, claims it as a mark and is paid!

Four umps and it happened about 30cm or so above any other players so zero line of sight obstruction.  Yet not one ump has the courage to over ride the original decision.  Imagine that in a major final or a match that decides if you play in one or not.

It's that bad we absolutely should bring in a Captain's call.  Give them at least two reviews in a match which only expire if the Captain's challenge is incorrect.

Pendle's 45 meter kick on right angles from the middle that was 100% deliberate ...ignored.

Razor's explained that rule so many times.  If you don't kick straight ahead and you kick off the line towards the boundary and no one is close enough to have a plausible attempt at taking possession... it's a free kick.  May have changed the result.

Going nowhere for quite a while.

You can’t have Captain’s Call. It won’t work. It will be used as a tactic.

Probably time to acknowledge Sydney in the top tier. 7-1 and 147%, have beaten the sides sitting 3rd, 4th and 5th, plus 9th and 10th.

A shame for them that they don’t hand out premierships at the start of May

No.

But I watched the first 10 mins of the third quarter and I think they set a world record for repeating the word fatigue!

They're just not popping in my head when I think of contenders. Can't figure out why...

They have a very deep and talented midfield. That goes a long way to winning a flag, but it’s still very early days with much water to go under the bridge.

what the bloods are doing is getting themselves into a position where they'll play at the scg twice in september

they're going be there or thereabouts at the pointy end, you would expect

I would have thought playing off in a granny isn't a bad result. Especially how they are so bad 🤣. You can't have it both ways 💣.

Fair call.

I'm def in the doubts about the swans camp, but you make a good case. They still have Mills to come back in too.

That said, and perhaps it's confirmation bias, but i have my doubts their method will stand up come finals.

By that I mean, like the pies for much of 2023 (but importantly not in the last 5-6 hames) they are a  transition team that relies on clean hands to get the ball to the outside to their distributors like gulden.

That method can get exposed in the heat of finals.

That said they are strong enough in the contest and we'll coached so they can probably adjust to a more forward half contested game like the pies did last year.

But I'm also not convinced by their defence away from the scg. Watching them beat the giants looked like a carbon copy of our game against them.

They flood back and completely clog up their opponents forward 50. Old school but very effective on the ridiculously small SCG.

Lyon employs a similar method at the docklands.

As was the case in our game, the giants forwards had no space to lead into and every marking contest had mutiple players attacking it.

Because the scg is so small transition is hard meaning it's hard for opponents to beat the swans' defensive flood and get the ball into a one in one forward line.

That method doesn't work as well at proper football ground.

True, but they have far and away the best record against the rest of the finals contenders so that has to stand them in good stead.

Definitely. And if they make mistakes they get dropped.  Less salary.   Only way. Make them accountable to get it tight and get in the correct position to see the play.

That's 4 ACLs for the Lions after the 2 last night

Reckon they will miss finals despite their easy run coming up
