That HTB against Draper at the finish is not clear cut as it might first look.

Watch how Tex hurls himself into Draper's back. It's potentially a free to Draper as well, but what the incident highlights is the really crummy tactic of jumping on a player to lock the ball in. Why is that rewarded when at any other time we look down on teams playing for frees? In any case it's not clear from the vision that it is Draper who pulls the ball in. Hilarious to see Tex mouthing off at the finish.

I just wish the umpires had the strength to umpire against the crowd when we're playing the Crows over there. They have cost us two wins in the last few years with cowardly non-decisions or outright blunders.

I needed to bathe in someone else's misfortune so I had a look at Saint's Bigfooty.

Had to share this gem.

Oh, how I wish I didn't understand that!!!

Is it just me or do the peptides tend to over celebrate H&A wins a little too much?  It looked like they'd just won a final singing the song

Someone in commentary said last night was only the 5th or 6th time Essendon has played the crows in Adelaide despite them being in the comp for 33 years.

They were probably celebrating the fact that on average it will be another 5 years before they have to go back…

Don't know why anyone would be expressing about TWSNBN good fortune in a game changing situation.

They are wanted by the AFL to be top4 in Collingwood's place, on a just in case basis.

Yes good point WC.   I usually don't and turn off before the songs even played after the siren.

Though it dd jog my long but somewhat dormant disdain for anything red & black.

The classic was that possibky their worst player on the night, who almost cost them the game from planking on the ball at the end and was saved by umpire incompetance, was the main one over celebrating as if he'd just won a flag 🤮

I don't think maggots care a rats about crowds. It was so much more to getting TWSNBN over the line at all costs.

Rachel (yes i said Rachel for obvious reasons) cost them the game in the last, but Ess squandered alot of shots on goal throughout the game.

Not so obvious, to me anyways.

At first I thought you were saying Rachele played like a girl therefore you gave him a girl’s name. Then I thought of Katie Hore and Tyla Hanks and Sinead Goldrick and Tayla Harris etc. etc., but they’re all incredibly talented footballers so I knew it couldn’t be that.

So, why did you call Rachele Rachel???

Unless there's a freak occurance in the West Coast v Fremantle game, we're looking at a round 6 ladder with five teams on one win or fewer. Played out over a season that would mean just three or four wins each by the end.

I've been looking over past ladders to find an example of such a long 'tail' to the ladder. For a moment I thought 2020 (two teams with 3 wins, three teams with 5 wins) but of course that was Covid-restricted and there were only 17 games.

Other than that, the weakest tails I've found are;

2018, with Carlton on two wins and three other clubs with 5 or 4.

2012 have a five-team tail, with the Giants and Suns doing their early-career tanking strategy, Melbourne close to their worst, and Port & the Dogs only managing 5 wins. Incredibly, one up from that pile of failure, 13th place on the ladder had ten wins, and it took 14 wins just to make the finals.

This could be a very skewed season where clocking through the 'regulation' wins becomes very important for sorting the finals order when 16 wins might not even be top 4 finish, and an alarming share of the games are the proverbial '8-point' games.

As it stands, 4-2 is barely enough to keep us in the 8, but considering the level of disruption and missing/underdone players going into the season, we've done well to be in that leading pack.

We should thank Richmond for their effort against Sydney and politely but firmly ensure they don't do it against us next round!

Some personal news.

I wasn’t watching the game last night but was following along with the scores through the AFL app. I was barracking for the Crows to win all night until I checked my Footy Tipping app and realised that I was the only one in my mates competition that tipped the Bombers and a win would put me outright leader.

I felt so dirty cheering the Bombers on in the last few minutes, even crediting the umpires for the play on call the gifted the Bombers the win, that I needed to take a shower before going to sleep lest I sully my bed linen.

It’s ok. The first step is realising what you have done.

Take care. ♥️

Can’t believe Hoskin-Elliott is still playing and he must stink really bad, cause no one is ever on him, ever.

AFL have admitted to an umpiring error on the Draper HTB play

The AFL has conceded it erred in not paying a free kick against Sam Draper for a controversial dive on the ball on Friday night, as the Essendon cult hero said he had no other choice but to do what he did with the game on the line.

It's virtually incomprehensible to me how:

  1. the AFL struggle to recruit and keep officials to umpire suburban and country footy, yet
  2. do not sanction behavior such as Walker's.

It was threatening and abusive. At a minimum it was a free kick and 50 metres. Crows win game by three points. At worst, it's a one week holiday. Pathetic custodians of the game IMHO.

Strange thing advertising.    Crypto want their name and logos on the screen as often as they can yet repeatedly show that they have a “rather ordinary” product.

Would you want your product, associated with the ire of supporters around the country whom you are supposed to be courting? But in the end I guess the marketing take would be - don't care about the 95% of people you [censored] off, care about the 5% you convert. Are there any marketing guru's on here?
