Someone getting their money's worth out of their MCC membership it seems.

That guy is my hero. I love it was caught on TV. I stood and applauded with him.

Early days but loving the fact they have traded out their first round pick to freo and won't get a consolation prize if their season goes completely belly up.

Pies got crucified by the umps.
Free kicks were Saints 30 Pies 15.

Higgins goal from the 3rd row was a nail into the pies hearts.
 Umps were shocking.

Pies were massacred by the umps.

It was beautiful to watch

🤣🤣😊😊🤣🤣😊😊

I'm not the guy in the pic but I was also at game in my Melbourne gear, cheering the Saints on.

Collingwood fans are hilarious and I'm convinced half have no idea what they are watching.

Also particularly enjoyed when they went the early crow not once but twice with their stupid chant, only for half on them to be on their way out the door a few Saints goals later.

Re Higgins' goal... looks in to me!  😎

Freo on the Pies death ride … oh my, the irony.

Pies tanking for draft picks?

Lol what?! Please tell me you’re joking!

He was presenting an analogy (I think). 🤷‍♀️  It made no sense at all. I’m sure even he would be puzzled if he watched his presser back.

As they fall, any pickings from the carcass? Apart from the Daicos brothers who will have to wither on the vine, who would you take, I used to like McStay, but feeling ho hum about him, Moore would never leave, Hill I rate, Quaynor also, but that is about it, everyone else is looking like a dollar special due to age.

Yep not much bait there. Maybe Murphy if healthy?

...but I guess you can't have everything.

nil all draw anyone?

Considering the last 3 flag winners, we've still been the most consistent one.

I thought about this but he doesn’t replace May, and I like our guys more. There will be an article about how well we have replaced defenders in last 5 years, Hunt, OMac, Frost, Hibbered, Lovett, Tomlinson when he did his knee, have been replaced by Petty, Bowey, McVee, Rivers, Gus for a period, (Howe, Hore off a very small sample size), and it hasn’t missed a beat. You play in the Men’s department for Melbourne, you are a very serious player, anywhere…Me thinks we could do with more praise for Troy on this fora.

Egregious spelling

Pies will miss finals.

They remind me of Leicester a few years ago when they won the EPL (2016 i think it was). For a season and a half they couldn't lose even though everyone expected the wheels to come off at any moment. The season after their miraculous win they crashed and burned finishing 12th.

A crows win over the cats tonight would set the weekend up perfectly.

Putrid umpiring.

Good result.

Nup you definitely want Brisbane to win next week.  The pies can have their easter ruined & go 0-4.

How far St Kilda this year?

Prelim final?

You would be a fool to underestimate them. Some great talent coming through and well coached.

Agreed. They’re definitely underrated and are well in the top 8 mix this year.

If only the Pies could get relegated..

This just in from AFL Headquarters:

If Collingwood lose to Brisbane next week and to a Jack Ginnivan-led Hawthorn the week after in Gather Round, they will be granted exclusive draft access to Nathan Fyfe's twin boys as compensation.

If that happens, expect to hear a lot about Collingwood, Owen Fyfe and Norton Fyfe.

Carlton lost six (seven?) in a row early last season. Everyone wrote them off, said they wouldn’t make finals. Nek minnit…

Collingwood are so far off it that I’m not sure beating them right now is necessarily a sign that St Kilda are any good.

Every year st kilda are talked up. they never deliver. they've got some good players in King and Marshall and they are well drilled by Lyon but they are a 6-8 team at best.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
