The comments below wasn't actually from the function. She clarified this to the Age journo when they reached out to her this week.

We get good numbers to games already in my opinion and I think we do well enough to make noise. She thinks it's as easy as coming to games and making noise at all opportunity.  Sorry Kate, it doesn't work that way especially when you're 5-6 goals down with a game style that is not overly exciting for fans to watch. Still gets the wins but it's boring to watch. 

At the end of the day the wins is all that matters.

Exactly what kind of fan engagement do you want during games?? Seriously, you're there to watch a game of footy, not a super bowl entertainment. 

Fans getting excited DD don't be so boring That’s what footy is all about having a great time and fun barracking.

Did you actually read that I wrote and the point I'm trying to make? 

Spoke to Kate this time yesterday.

All she said was club was working towards getting as large as we can as quickly as we can.

Not just for support factors for the boys on game day (which helps) but to ensure we had more clout with the AFL when negotiating more favourable draws etc.

There was no mention of noise.  Just growing the member base.

If they wanted more noise from supporters, then in a match that matters the most, why are there so few tickets allocated to the teams members?

More tickets to members should be allocated for the Grand Final.

I think there has been a narrative coming out of the club for a while about not making enough noise. I mean they had some b grade comedian telling us in the finals series in 22 to make more noise. I personally don’t like the messaging. The club has done well to increase the membership but play good footy and win and the noise will follow. 

Honestly what a dumb thing to say by our president .. like we are the poorer cousin  and we are second rate! We have 70k membership premiership in 2021 & making profits!

How about finding us a training base & resolving the boardroom court issues

Her comments were not aimed at the Demon Army or those supporters who are already loud. Ask WCW but there are  many Melbourne supporters who just do not go bonkers like some of us. Remember the days when the joke was that Melbourne supporters would say "Go No. 4" with as much enthusiasm as a wet blanket. They are still around, politely applauding. We just have more of them than Collingwood. Which is in itself a wondrous thing as I don't think a Colliingwood supporter equates to anything polite. The Club just wants all of us to be loud. Speak to any of the players and they will specifically remember the games when the noise was so loud. It really does lift them.

I think we should be all mindful of our "loudness" on Sunday.

They were from where I was sitting. For what little good it will do in the future, I was told the MCC had many complaints about the behaviour of the Collingwood fans during the game. How do you control 50,000 something morons.

I'd put them all in one area behind a big net and make them wait until an hour after the game has finished before letting them out of the ground, just as they do in a lot of european football grounds. Either that or have them all muzzled. Or preferably both. They are the creme de la scum of the competition. 

The year prior I was again on an aisle next to two bays of Sydney members but I spent the half time break chatting with them across the aisle about their local team Pennant Hills and how they have the same guernsey and team song as the Dees, which I wasn't aware of.

Ok so I don’t know what other peoples are experiences are at the footy but for what it’s worth… I’ve been to a lot of neutral games over the last decade (jobs giving away free tickets) and my experience is this is absolutely accurate?
 

Dees supporters go quiet when things are going badly unlike any other team. We’re meek and go into our shells in a heartbeat.
 

Yes you can say, oh game ‘x’ was very loud. But I sit in Melbourne members and have for many years now and I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb from how loud I am.

 

From my experience and mine alone, we definitely go quiet when that game goes against us. 
 

It’s just my personal experience so yes it isn’t reliable, but geez, I’ve experienced this so many times for a very long time.
