i recall Hore being a nice kick but could be wrong

One of the most composed kick at training, often hitting with perfection (Hore). Although under minimal pressure.

Was on target right from the start of his preseason.

He appeared determined to break into the AFL again.

Well done Marty.

Tomlinson wanted to leave last year but Goodwin told him in his review that he was a required player.  He was filthy when he got dropped last yr after his best game in the red and the blue.

How do you get to sit in on Reviews? Everyone gets filthy when they are dropped.

That's not written for our consumption, that is specifically for the Bulldog Rucks, to stir them up...

While Tommo is stiff, he still makes me nervous with the highball and ground ball. So does TMAC but probably a lesser extent.
My thoughts on our back 6 is that we have too many interceptors and not enough defender's. Lever needs to be more like May and lock down first. Lever was so poor last week. Most backlines play taller, so maybe we bring in Hore for Tommo and Salem goes back for Bowzer.

Picket to play 50/50 Mid as will Tracc and Clarry to find his topuch.

Perhaps Tmac given that Hore is in an as well, could be swung fwd if necessary. Maybe that's why he was selected over Tommo. Not saying I agree with it but just wondering why.

Feels like MFC Selection night

I hope TMac goes well. would be unbelievable if he could rediscover some of his 2021 form.

Not letting a player who’s keen to leave the club do so because they’re “required”, then dropping them for the second game of the season despite a solid performance in the first, is the epitome of poor player-management.

Goodwin, though rich in “learnings”, seems to have learned nothing from the selection debacle of last year’s finals campaign.

He might be rich in “learnings” but it seems to me Goody is [censored] at “rememberings”.

Looks a much stronger team than last week (although we’ll be missing Bowey 😢)

I’m guessing if BBB is listed then TMac has been bought in to play back? I do like the flexibility he offers and the fact that he can chop out for Max in the ruck

Tomlinson stiff but perhaps it’s that flexibility that TMac provides that has him ahead as a preferred tall defender

Taj to come on as sub to provide some run in the second half? Would love to see it

Tomlinson is a battler and should only play if we have injuries.

Constantly behind his opponent, can't spoil and is out of form.

Keen to see how Hore goes in that spot.

B - Lever, May, McVee

HB - Hore, Howes, Rivers

cmon mate.....we wont lose by more than 7 goals surely

I am keen to see how Bx3 goes. Looks fit

TMac has been training down back so I think he will be in the side to rotate with tall backs , replacing Thommo and also to give Max a chop out in the ruck.

Brown replaces Schache, more reliable leading patterns.

Woewodin replaces Laurie and adds a bit more grunt

Pickett is an upgrade on Spargo and gives us more goal power and mid rotation

Hore is a great intercept mark and plays tall and small so he is in for Bowey but with different strengths.

I am surprised so many are surprised by Tomlinson's absence.

Once you prefer BBB over Fullarton which given exposed form was a given TMac had to be included as relief ruck. His position this year is down back therefore......

Will it work........ probably not but Dogs are a middle of the road side

Taj or Billings as sub ?? Close but my guess is Taj

Tmac going back into defence is my nightmare...

The bulldogs back 6 isn’t exactly stacked with quality key defenders. I hope Brown is fit because that’s where we have a clear advantage. Jones has to go to him, freeing up JVR for a big size advantage.

C’mon Dees!

Agree.. they are vulnerable

Darcy will play back. He had an excellent VFL season in 2022 as a forward. Was tried early 2023 at AFL level as a forward and then moved back. Dropped and then injured for most of the season

You're working you way to the top of the list of negative for negative's sake posters.  How about you sprinkle something positive -  just for comic relief.

Surprisingly they didn’t name him.

Really hope Billings gets a full game this week.

this is a great thought.  The dogs back 6 is poor! BB i have always liked but his body has let him down, but if he can be a "dummy" lead to create space for JVR it's an important role!

Chandler or Woey the sub

Goto say, I think Tomlinson was very stiff being dropped.  I haven't re-watched the replay of last week, but thought he was pretty solid and one of our better players last week.

Great work by Marty Hore, T Mac and BBB working their way back into the side.  Will see how they play, but I think all have worked hard in slightly different ways to get their way back into the senior team.

If T Mac and BBB are sufficiently fit, then their more than capable of putting in good football performances.

Marty Hore - what a great effort in preservance to make it back from the VFL after being a mature age rookie to begin with.  Talk about MFC culture, I think this guy is made of the right stuff in this respects.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
