Yep, can't believe it...?? Our backline is our strength

I've been generally quiet on selection choices but this has me massively scratching my mullet!!

I thought the May/Lever/Thommo combination really sorts out our coverage of the KPFs and then the McVee / Howes / Rivers / ...small gives us good coverage of the rest

 FFS

Mcrae has had an interrupted preseason and not yet AFL ready.

He's played two weeks of VFL. They've kept him out because he's plodding it up.

Perhaps a bit like how Spargo ought to have been considered last week…

Yes, I agree.

Perplexing decision, made doubly so by not making him the sub and not having a wound up, fit billings in the starting 22.

Yeah, right.

Their best kick and one of their top 10 players,  not to mention key to their transition game is being left out because he is plodding it up.

Not fit enough yet.

Go back and analyse the results last year when only Lever and May are our tall defenders above 195cm.

We invariably lose, including the Pies final when he stubbornly dropped Turner and didn’t replace him with Tomlinson.

Confirmed ins: Pickett and Hore

Who else comes in?  Fullarton/Brown or Tmac as FF I think.  And Billings into the side pushing Laurie to sub?

May and lever won't be the only tall backs. Tmac is in to play on Lobb and maybe follow him into the ruck (my read)

Thommo out of the squad ! [censored] if I understand that.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in selection meetings because ,honestly,  I just don't get some recent decisions.

That’s a nice tall backline with Lever, May, T Mac plus Hore and Howes both 190cm+

Tall and mostly nimble.

Then it looks like tmac will get a game. bench of Salem, Billings tmac and kolt. Woey as sub. Tmac is past it.

Exactly

Didn't Tommo play in 9 or 10 wins and get dropped multiple times

It's mind boggling they drop him

Agree with everyone else, Tomlinson could not have done much more.

Well he could have gone into the ruck and beaten Grundy. He could have gone down the other end and flattened the Lizard. He could have gone into the middle and run with Heeney. He could also have told Max to jump early with knees up to stop Grundy wrestling. He could also have organized the oranges for 3/4 time.

You see there is a lot more he could have done.

Seriously though, he is really stiff, as I thought he was one of our better players and would end up on Lobb this week.

Agree. He is too slow to play on JUH though. Feels like:

- Hore to JUH

- McDonald to Lobb

- May to Naughton (always done well on Naughton)

- Lever to stay loose

Fullarton or BBB I have no idea?

I would say this is close to the chocys  as to why Tomo isn't playing.

I'm not sure T-Mac is a better option though.

If we risk BB for a full match then i'm a monkey's uncle (no offence Uncle!)

Fullcream to play his first match for the mighty Redlegs

agree. He had a poor year last year. out of the top 10 in the BnF.

Think he is past his best and no longer a 22 lock

Yes highly likely.

They can at least attend some CBs against each other and show off their rucking prowess.

Taking my binoculars for that one!

Agreed. Tomlinson was one of few that beat his direct opponent last week. I would love to know what is expected of him to get a game compared to some who can have limited impact for weeks on end and continue to get a run.

AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE IN PLAYER MANAGEMENT GOODWIN🤯😵‍💫

Thanks Mr Leg.  At least that explains why he was stiff.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
