Maynard and Cripps put players out of finals with head knocks, knocking them out cold and ended one's career and their punishment was a Premiership and a Brownlow.

Well done AFL.

Gutted and angry. All the best Gus.

The end of Angus' long (AMAZING) letter:

"And so, concludes me career. I have no regrets and a lot of love. My heart will ALWAYS beat true for the red and the blue. Go Dees."

What an elite top shelf gentleman and athlete. Will be missed. Hope the guys can put aside the drama and unideal prep for the season and do it for him. A flag this year would be tough (without him, as just one of the reasons), but would be so sweet.

Highly recommend the read.

A letter from Gus (melbournefc.com.au)

In fairness to Gus, he wrote "my career", not, "me career".

I will never forget that as long as I live. I was at the game and surrounded by Pies supporters who looked like they had a total combined IQ of about 10 between them. I couldn’t stand it so left my seat and went and sat downstairs. I refused to talk to my husband for about a week and told him I will never, ever go to a Collingwood game with him ever again. This still makes my blood boil.
I have not watched one minute of last years GF and never will. It make me feel sick to think that thug has a premiership medal.

I’m the same

wife and their family CFC

week after had to listen to one of them claim there was no way Maynard could have avoided and all the media was nonsense and unfair he was even at tribunal

never watching a game with them again

Would love to see Gus still involved in the club in some capacity.

With his intelligence, tact and diplomacy I could see him as a future Ambassador or even a CEO.

I have just read Angus’s letter Saying goodbye. SWYL shed some tears. He is a Heart and Soul Player that will leave a huge hole within the Club this Season.
I am also incredibly ANGRY at the INJUSTICE that Followed that night in September.
I have a Filth Mate who i have known since School days.
I HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO HIM SINCE THAT NIGHT

That is how much i HATE The Filth.

We must Win FLAGS against these [censored]

For Gus and all of us

Smash the Bastards at every opportunity

This was a Planned Move executed by our Mortal Enemy….

Guess he's got the better of the deal then, fancy giving up a mate over a game of football who you have known for that long.

I hope they hang his guernsey in the rooms before every game. This guy didn’t want his journey to end, so when at half time they need a pick me up they see it for a reason why to keep pushing.

I feel really flat about this. We love you gussy!

And over half the AFL supporters thought the same, I thought it was crude but they were the rules, but to lose a mate over, well that's your decision.

I am well aware of the consequences, but my Hatred of the Pies goes back a very long way.

Right up there with Ox’s knees. Really heartbroken for myself as a supporter but even more so for Gus as a quality person. Sincerely hope he will be ok going forward.

All power to the Frawley family, their foundation and litigation. The AFL deserve everything coming their way.

Performative.

The AFL put on a woeful case and then didn't appeal a ridiculously flawed decision.

AFL dictated Maynard must not be suspended and threatened media with their accreditation if they pushed against it too hard.

They're a despicable organisation, I've had enough of them.

Of Course

The AFL wanted the Filth at Full Strength on GF day

Ratings Bonanza

The AFL would have made a killing with merchandise online.
Gill probably gained himself a nice little bonus as he quietly left the chair.

The evidence given was disgraceful, Angus was painted as the guilty party.
I hope he sues the whole lot of them, long and hard

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?
