Thanks Joeboy and Picket Fence for the excellent training reports and travelling out to CF and all posters for their comments and observations. Schache is an interesting one, has the height for ruck/fwd, is it possible that Josh has started to click on what he needs to do to keep his AFL career alive? I am also on Will Verrall watch as I am hoping that he is a live one!!

I can’t see Schache making it, I went to 3 training sessions last week and kept an eye on him, he’s not much different to what he was last year.
He’s capable of doing good things, but I don’t think he’s got the mongrel in him to play at the top level.

It's me, it's Schache, I've come home now.

It's truly amazing where some people's minds go. I would never have linked Kate Bush with Schache!!!

Agree Dante, Schache 2024 is the same as Schache 2023.  He's a very good trainer and able to do really good things in the training environment but in a truly contested situation he doesn't seem to be able to do it.  Treat training form with care, Andrew Strauss was one of the best trainers I've seen over the years.

He did captain England so he wasn't a complete bust.  :D

Plenty of cricketers would take Strauss’s CV any day. Especially team success as well.

Drills are a lot more corridor based and feature the ability to a) Select the best option in traffic b) Execute skills to best advantage. Its coming together and the intensity is definately obvious

This is what we want to hear ... but why did it take years of team training and coaching to move into this critical, essential mindset and preparation?

Apart from JVR, and Petty, who else from our forward talls could be relied on to take marks and kick goals?

So long as we can prevent the oppos from taking easy marks, then we have the "play tall" forwards like Fritsch and perhaps McAdam to compete in the air and the small forwards like Kozzie and Chandler to prosper at ground level.

Balanced with a strong defence and an attacking midfield, the lack of dominant forward talls might not be a disaster yet.

GO DEES

IF JVR and Petty have injury-free uninterrupted seasons then that would be amazing

Daniel Nicholson another who absolutely trained the house down. The best runner I've seen at the MFC.

Rohan Bail was a gun runner as well.

Perhaps you meant James - said to be "an elite kick" but didn't get it enough to prove it.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

    TRAINING: Wednesday 15th January 2025

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
