in 2024 that's:
- spargo playing in opening round when mlies off fitness issues; not seen since with his achilles injury
- lever playing with a stuffed knee since Anzac day eve
- may playing with broken ribs vs crom and clearly not 'right'
- oliver playing with a busted hand vs bears
- petty hobbling around like a 77 year old with a cactus ankle for the last four weeks
- viney's ongoing shoulder issues that seem to have been around for the entire season
- petracca being sent back on field with busted ribs, lacerated spleen, and partially punctured lung

our medical dept needs a change

This football club really disgusts me. It was clear as day he had an internal injury and I said it at the time, as did many of us. We need new leadership on all lines.

If you loathe the club that much, then give us all a break, leave, and follow another club. No one will miss you.

Wrong thread.

I regard Tracca's commitment - despite agonising pain and uncertainty - to get out there again against his better judgment to assist the standing team (performing poorly) to overcome the odds and gather some pride, effort and responsibility with the game. That, folks, is to me, an act of ultimate leadership and attitude. Self-sacrifice in the order of Stynes, May and Gus 'just in case things improved' at the individual level for him by which, he could continue his contribution(s) for their sakes.

Injury List: Round 15

Josh Schache — calf / available
Marty Hore  — calf / 1 - 2 weeks
Jake Lever — knee / 1 - 2 weeks
Jake Melksham  — knee / 2 - 3 weeks
Charlie Spargo — Achilles / TBC

I wonder if they will find Harold Holt before they identify the issue with Spargo’s Achilles.

Thanks Chelly disappointing that we lost Will Verrall to concussion, get two back and lose another one.

If your list is accurate and I do not doubt your integrity. Even if some of your observations are a little exaggerated (petty being 77) it is a disturbing list.

our conditioning and medical team plus whoever picks the side each week should be asked some questions.
it is the same as playing one or two players less each week,  no wonder 2024 is so poor.  Other years it has worked better, but not this year.   As soon as Salem went off, our system could not cope.

Not surprised BBB knee is still a problem.  He was managed and 2021 and then deteriorated again through 22 and 23.

welcome to AFL. Players have to play through injury. most guys by now are carrying a couple of injuries

Viney and May were our two best on the weekend

or maybe we should get Collingwoods medical team with half their list out injured. Meanwhile we have 1-2 key players on our list

what does that mean? they are missing 5 best 22 players. they have more injuries than us

zero excuses for us not to front up

Have they said much about Spargo?

A month ago he was changed from 2-3 weeks to TBC and has remained on TBC since.

Collingwood's medical team must be doing something right given their record over the past 12 weeks. How have we gone in that period?

You mean having half their team out injured? yeah they've been great. They are probably the only part of that club not doing well

We haven't had anywhere near their injury list

[censored] - has Tracc done his Achilles as well! Kid just can’t take a trick.

No more mention of Viney’s foot? Does anyone know if this is his “bad” foot?

They do have the umps getting them over the line in multiple games.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
