Strangely he's a Saints supporter?! His friend Lance Collard was drafted to the Saints, so he'll have someone he knows well moving over to Victoria also.

Seems we have picked up a couple of decent kids. Now to transform them it good players at the highest level.

Same as Riley Hardeman from WA

Rookie central profile has him at 186cm, 86kgs and above average for endurance. That sounds pretty good for a draftee?

He is closer to 189cm atm apparently, with a lift in his tank, through 2-3 pre-season's worth of work, he could genuinely be ANYTHING! But before then, he will be a pressure fwd that can finish, yes pls!!!

I get the Windsor pick but this one has me scratching my head

Not sure with the existing small forwards and the addition of those two above this was a pressing need

Maybe they think he can evolve into a midfielder

100% what we are thinking. PLUS, you really can't have too many pressure fwds these days, will put pressure on Chandler/Spargo pretty quickly i'd rkn.

Ran 6.17 for the 2km time trial which was 10th at the Draft Combine. I think he’s actually a decent runner.

Got an opinion from a mate involved with West Perth coaching dept. Said he's a very good player and compares him to Daniel Rich.

Watching his highlights he seems to kick the ball like Rich, low hard with real power in the kick.

He has the swagger of Brereton. I like him already.

Hopefully both will turn out champions but I thought we needed a few ahead.Curtin for one could have become a tall back.I also think a young ruck was  the go.Will Green would have suited us nicely as well.

I know this will sound like sacrilege, but when I first saw some of him, I couldn’t help but feel he likes to hit opponents in a similar way to Viney

At least we made the draft interesting, was falling asleep until our picks.

It might be the hair, but also the way he plays, he reminds me of Buddha Hocking.

I could live with that.

Nickname - Whiskas?  🤔

The same thing was said about Grundy. Every list spot is valuable, and we already have a bunch of experienced players who'll struggle to be best 22.

Billings hasn't played well for 2 years. What makes you think he'll return to his best?

What makes you think he won't?

One side of his family is diehard Saints, the other side is diehard Dees but he’s the black (and white) sheep of the family; he’s mad Collingwood.

edit: sorry, wrong person. I was thinking this was Caleb’s thread.

Thanks Nudge that is even better, 189cm is a good height for a hard nut forward/mid with a bit of X factor about him.🔥

It's the theme song of his junior club in Esperance I believe.

Koltyn reminds me of the great Allen Jakovich. Full of confidence, plays a tough brand, quick decision making, kicks goals.

Allen is shorter at 187cm. Koltyn needs another 15 kgs.

I agree he could be anything after a couple of pre-seasons

Every stat and bio I have seen says 186 cms, but if you have more updated info, that is good and  I hope you are correct.

This is critical.

Says two things - one he is a natural athlete. And two he must be a hard worker.

I suspect nibbla's 2km draft trial was similarly impressive and i'm guessing the role they have in mind for Koltyn is, like Nibla, the high half forward role.

As i have banged on about that role has become critical in footy and was a clear need we had to fill (ie another elite high half forward to compliment Nibbla).

Appears to have good foot skills too, which is important

Nibbla has really improved his field kicking and was our best kick inside 50 last season (as defined by kick to score ratio - our three worst were Tracc, Oliver and Gawn).

Having a player on both flanks who can hit a target inside 50 will be a big positive.

Good get.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
