Can't believe the negative nonsense written about Marty Hore by posters.

He is a very handy signing. He has good skills & can fill in wing, or in defence & only injury prevented him becoming a permanent player last time round.

He'll also be an ideal player at Casey.

I agree, don't understand why people think he should be the last choice if his form warrants it he should play in the seniors but it will be hard for him because teams usually promote youngsters ahead of older players.

He is no wingman and would be behind Ed and Hunter, Woey, Howes, Billings, Chandler, Spargo, Gus, Bowey, Rivers, Laurie, McVee  and possibly even Windsor at least, to be tried there.

He certainly could play anywhere in the back half though, if needed.

I have already given Hunter’s wing to Windsor Redleg.

For good reason

Thsts why Hore should be last selected . Also why Disco should be ahead of Tommo except ageist a monster forward,

Hope you are right, Hunter’s disposal is very ordinary.

But BT would really miss his “wow, Richo, another Hunter special, underground handpass, JB”.
PS : BT, all of Hunter’s low handpasses remain above the ground.

There's a reason Marty Hore was delisted two years ago (several of them actually), and nothing that he has done since in that joke of a VFL competition, will convince me that he fills any of the gaping holes in our list.

It's a really poor list management decision, unless we are trying to lift Casey back into finals contention.

Yes and the reason was injury. That's why we let him go.

Its actually a very smart list management decision.

We need experienced players at Casey mentoring the kids & keeping the seconds team competitive.

I suspect the real reason he is back is as insurance for May and Lever, if Turner and Adams are injured, or are not thought good enough at this stage. Turner is obviously well ahead of Adams at this stage.

Ha had a very good year this year at Williamstown and it is not a shocking move, but rather a surprising one, to some extent, from the view of fans, obviously not the FD though.

To that end I can see us draft/trading for a couple of key position players next year.

You’ve really got to applaud his professionalism and work ethic. Didn’t get his shot until 23, looked good at the level, gets a season ending injury, delisted, does absolutely everything he can to keep at it, and gets another shot.

I’ll be cheering extra hard for Marty this year. I love these kinds of stories. It’s good for footy.

I don’t mind Marty Ho and good luck to Oscar, incredibly determined hard work workers to climb back on to AFL lists.

If they don’t turn out as good as Sashy and Laurie, I will eat my hat

100% and full credit to him (and others like Oscar and Corey Wagner).

That never say die attitude and personal resilience not to drop your bundle when the chips are down post being delisted is the sort of attitude and culture that we want at the club.

I think this is also sensible in respects to getting a bit thin for mid - key back depth with Hibbo gone, Petty poised to play mainly key forward and some question marks over the availability of Joel Smith.

Smart move by the club in my book and good luck to Marty second time around in the mighty red and blue.

Is Marty your brother ? Seriously gushing over a 28 yo defender who played 14 average games in a modest year.
I hope Disco gets a fair go ahead of Marty and can only see him as a break glass if broken 8th, 9th or 10th defender,

Also believe Disco  is a really nice young man as well and can play a bit.

Agreed, Disco def ahead of MH 💯 but Marty offers depth, kicking, decision making & helps sure up stocks well. We’re extremely thin down back esp in that mid-range size so he fits A need & we don’t give away list spots for fun so again, I defer to JT & his team above ANY of you fine specimens, which is why — for me — I’m wrapped cus if we’ve added him it means he’s up to it & for a guy that hasn’t had a lot of luck, I rkn that’s a great thing!

So no, not my brother — but he’s a demon I like due to his assets, they offer something different we don’t have a surplus of! So relax a little & lighten the hell up, such a group of grumpy sods on here. Bloody hell it’s exhausting

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
