Congratulations Joel Smith! A baby girl and a damn fine excuse for missing training.

Advise you to check the 2018 EF against Geelong, tomorrow should be a similar atmosphere!

Three new (giant) faces to look out for in the crowd tomorrow night…

was it in the west of the town?

I am pumped. Got the day off work, the kid will be in daycare, it's gonna be 29 degrees and sunny in Amsterdam. Can't wait to smash beers in the sun after a big win!!

Still on the other side of the world. Enjoying the weather, food and wine in Tuscany. It’s a hard life but someone has to do it. Will be streaming live and look forward to the Dees winning. I expect a hard close opening but we will get on top in the third as our structures and contest take centre stage.

Dees by 7 goals.

more wine! More food! More wine!

I’m fine.

Yes, but due to jet lag!

However, Demons seem to have timed their run this year as formline overvlast 8 week’s excellent!

Pies wobbling, looking forward to Demons bringing four quarters of finals pressure, and moving onto Prelim final!

TMac also got his prep just right and just in time, would love to see him snag a few!

Demons by 21!

Amstel or Heineken?

Interesting to see Noble has been dropped by Collingwood in favour of a slightly taller Markov. Must be worried about the match up against TMac, but interesting to see if this destabilises them a bit noting Noble has played all 23 games this year.

Yep.  My whole week has been building up to this point.  Work is going to fly by today.

The oppertunity to win and go straight through to a prelim is huge.  Hasn't presented many times in my life and that isn't lost on me.

Dees by 18.

It'll be a grind throughout the game. Don't be surprised if it's a low scoring  affair right up until 3 quarter time, pretty much level pegging, for us to then pull away with our running power and superior fitness levels.

Win this, and a grand final birth awaits us.

Jack Viney BOG for me. The stage is built for him.

Dude, that's where need to you call a doctor...

The 2018 finals were big for the club and fans, but the game tonight feels like it’s the biggest for the MFC at the MCG since the lead up to the 2000 GF.

Been up early every day so far this week for work, got a late flight back tomorrow. Would love nothing more than a sleep in tomorrow with victory secured.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
