I wouldn't have called that a rant, but ok....  🤷‍♂️

On the bolded bit, I have MFC nominated on my AFL membership, but I don't pay any extra for that. That's just a kickback the club gets from the AFL, which then means I'm counted amongst MFC member numbers and get the MFC membership pack.

Thats it.

Nominating a club of support doesn't give me more of a chance of getting a ticket to MFC finals game vs other AFL members who support a non competing club. And nor should it IMO. That's what club membership and things like GF guarantee are for.

If anything it puts me at a disadvantage of getting a ticket vs club members. Week 1 & week 2 I should be fine, but prelim will be difficult and GF impossible.

Sorry I actually meant to say @leave it to deever as you were responding to his post.

Well the MCC is a different kettle of fish, they own the place so the AFL is just a guest.

I guess it is just a niche thing here in Australia. I don't recall any similar arrangements for seat allocation in other professional sports (e.g. NFL, La Liga, EPL).

Of course its a niche thing to have:

  • None of those leagues have a stadium that 5 teams use as its home ground
  • None of those leagues play games with any empty seats (excluding maybe the Texans/Dolphins/Jags in the NFL)
  • There is a certain away area/amount of seats for away supporters to purchase

Meanwhile we have a stadium that no single club can fill on its own accord during the Home and Away season. The concept of AFL membership has a place in Victoria where it doesn't elsewhere. I don't think its fair to compare the AFL with any of those leagues.

Hi guys,

I have a ticket in gate 4, SM4, seat S12 (I don’t believe it’s under cover) for the game which I’m looking to give to someone who missed out, as I have COVID as of this morning, ergo sadly can’t make it anymore. Shoot me an email at [email protected]

I don’t want any money, just happy if someone supporting the Dees goes in my stead.

It’s first in best-dressed, so please don’t get mad if I tell you it’s gone already.

Anyone know if N14, Row C is undercover?

I assume that you are in the Southern Stand? If so then Yes but only just. If the wind is blowing towards you then you may get wet. You will probably need a coat anyway for either before or after the match and getting to and from your transportation.

Bloody hell I had the virus that's going around last week and it wasn't fun! Still getting over it 2 weeks after first symptoms so I sympathise with those who have copped it - I don't think I wouldve made it if the game was last Thursday.

Same boat Gonzo. Mine came about the week of the Sydney game the appeared to go away but got these lingering aches.

Geez.  Alot of you guys are falling ill. Transition from cold Melb winters to Spring maybe. Happens here in Bangkok too. I always get a nasty cold when temp suddenly switches from humid to mild with heavy rain.

I hope the players havent been going out in the evenings.

Melbourne and Pies 1st 18 teams look pretty awesome.

Dees have the edge on the I/C bench. Goodwin definitely going for experience. Should be a humungus game close to 100k.

Winner likely to go all the way.

💯 exactly this time last year was feeling like I was on deaths bed but I blame 2 years of being locked up by our incompetent government for the increases of people getting really sick.

I never got sick and if I did I'd be over it in a day or 2 but now it takes weeks and I'm doing nothing different than I used to.

Damn I was hoping this section would be undercover.  First time I've sat on that level and assumed it'd still be back far enough to be under the roof.

    TRAINING: Monday 11th November 2024

Veteran Demonland Trackwatchers Kev Martin, Slartibartfast & Demon Wheels were on hand at Gosch's Paddock to kick off the official first training session for the 1st to 4th year players with a few elder statesmen in attendance as well. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning. Joy all round, they look like they want to be there.  21 in the squad. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. Once again the club’s top goal scorer but he had a few uncharacteristic flat spots during the season and the club will be looking for much better from him in 2025. After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The first round draft pick at #13 from twelve months ago the strongly built medium forward has had an impressive introduction to AFL football and is expected to spend more midfield moments as his career progresses. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025.
