    Get a grip fellow Dees.  Whether delusion or an epiphany it strikes me we have been a little cagey all year.

    Im no expert on horse training...though somehow im a collaborative part owner of a number lol.... but one thing you don't do is throw all your effort at the leadup races.

    You set yourself for the big one(s).

    We've been caught napping at times...and weve flicked the switch when had.

    Imho the FD have /are playing two seasons...the  h/a..   and finals.

    H/A ..get into finals..get there as intact as possible ...get into a box seat.

    Finals...bring the A game. First bounce....flick switch.

    I'm quite confident....so much my Collingwood wife wont watch the game with me ....lol.....

    The wobbly barbs from filth relatives and friends are being return of served straight back past them.

    They're nervous... and so is McRae.

    They would want to be.

    Yes... would be great to have Milky...or Petty......  they can play Daicos...i don't care. This is finals...they're  not winning this... they don't know how.  We DO !!

    When I did it, I fractured my patella. And the recovery was very very long. Granted I’m not an athlete but I was young and fit and it was a horrific injury to recover from.

With a strong turnover game, the Demons have scored 53.1 points a game from turnover this season and conceded the fewest points from turnover of any side (41.1 per game).

    WEAKNESS: Melbourne's weakness is its kicking, recording a kicking efficiency of just 63.9 per cent (ranked No.17). The 2021 premier's kick rating of -3.5 per cent for kicks going into the forward 50 ranks last.  

    You forgot the most important weakness.. an inability to play in the wet

    My biggest concern is Paulsy might not get up for the game.We need her behind the goals cutches and all ,they might be handy if things get a bit rough.The leg is only broken in 3 places its not as if she had it cut off.WCW i need an injury update

    Am I missing something?…. We are a contest, stoppage team who are strong big bodied bulls. Collingwood are the Harlem Globetrotters of the lower class society, why are we fearing the wet!!??

    Sure we lost some games in the wet, but we had a tall forwardline and we’re playing poor footy at the time. One word… Oliver!!!

    Colly's have been picking and choosing when to play most of the season.

    Finals have to be for the 4 quarters. We will push the entire time. Will the Colly's be able to sustain a full game when having to work hard? If we stop or neutralise a few of their take it through corridors and angle changes, we will get them. As their high energy exertion moments, are not sustainable. I think they have a power game, and aren't going to do the bread and butter. If they give us the momentum I believe we will run away with it. A comeback is unlikely for them as we will half expect it (given their history this season). 

    We are flying under the radar at the moment.

    I imagine the players are focused to get this first one under the belt.

    Clarry has to work through the tags, which he did last year.

    Our wingers are smart and won't give the Pies an easy out.

    Our contest will give them little ball use, we get the ball first, problem could be not getting the ball to the outside, where the Pies will be lurking.

    Cause turnovers, get intercepts, be smart with ball and don't give it back to them.

    Results in the wet speak for themselves this year, not sure why you would question the theory when it's already been proven 

    Wet weather creates a selection problem for Collingwood too though who likely planned to go in with Cameron and Cox. Will they just go with one and can he go with big Maxy for four quarters?

    We are not a stoppage and contest team… we are a turnover team. That’s how we win. The rain makes it more difficult to win a turnover especially when your 2 biggest weapons in may and lever are ineffective.

    Add to that that we are a poor disposal team even in the dry and you have an answer to why we lose games in the wet.

    Agree.. this is one big advantage to us. Don’t think you can play cox and Cameron in the same side when wet. Even though gawns marking will be dampened his total ground work rate will be noticeable

    My Pies tragic friend this morning says they can't see us being beaten because of our midfield and how we can deny them the ball.  Exactly how they lost KB.

    He's very pessimistic on their mids and Daicos out with a few back, including underwhelming McStay won't make much difference.

    I left the cathc up rather bullish.

    They can't go with Cameron by himself. Not good enough form to negate Gawn.  His KB form will suit us fine.

      Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

      Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
