That's so unfair.

He sometimes posts after 'disappointing' wins over any team outside the top 4 (or even teams on top of the ladder - see the posts about our win over the flu ridden, injury depleted, having an off day, supposedly 'great' pies and how poor it was to let them have a sniff very late).

Probably had one drafted and ready to go 10 mins in the last quarter ('can't win a flag if we can't beat a team in 16th convincingly at this stage of the season.....').

Must have been gutted by our late run of goals.

Hard, but not impossible ('i suppose you're thrilled by a win over a tired 16th placed team missing their three best players') to turn a five goal win into proof the dees aren't a premiership threat.

Whatever, JG’s likely sunning himself in Europe with a lady friend. Very handsome is our Jimmy

This was a very good win. Hawks brought their A game with excellent disposal skills. They will  be a force once again in the near future. For us to win by nearly 5 goals in the end without dominance from Clarry, Trac and Kossie bodes well for us going into the finals.

Left field how about MacDonald at CHB at Smith forward

It’s not that left field but the coaching staff see TMac as a better forward because he is an ordinary field kick but a straight kick for goal.

TMac will need to be mobile and agile enough and be timing his overhead marks to get back into the AFL.

Stoppages and clearances aren’t the only time midfielders touch the ball.

Just sayin…

You said "Mitchell doesn’t have the luxury of a starting midfield of Oliver, Petracca and Viney that Goody has."

They played a stopper AND won the stoppages AND clearance so maybe Mitchell doesn't need the luxury of a star packed midfield.

Geez the dorks play like a bunch of arrogant [censored]. They are up there with my other most hated teams and haven’t even done any yet

Very glad we beat them and have cemented our top 4 spot.

Hopefully we beat the swans but given who port and Brisbane are playing it won’t change our position.  First final will be against the collywobbles.

Hmmm... I thought they played like a team who is going through hard times but has the courage and determination to work through that and give of their best. I find it inspiring to see the self belief and confidence they are developing for such a young team.

Enjoyed the compliments from Mitchell in the press conference, beyond trying to deflect from a loss, you can tell he respects our operation, that says something, when your enemies acknowledge you as good. It also made me think Goodwin is not a natural media performer,  if he was as smooth as Mitchell, we would be talking about him like he was the second coming of Norm Smith. Let's not forget he can coach, which is by far the key point. Picked by Roos for a reason. Good game from coaches box as well yesterday.

thoroughly dislikable football club. I hope they crash and burn.

Not sure I remember??? It was yesterday…. I’m not 90 years old!!! 😂

I do remember, we chatted very briefly before I rushed back down the race and what struck me most was: how the hell did you get to go out on the ground in the first place?! Methinks the fact you were wearing a suit and tie might have something to do with it. 🤔

Hahaha. I guess I must be important because I was wearing a suit.

Agree Mitchell is quite impressive in his pressers - they have the makings of a decent team in the next few years. Despite their ladder position and win/loss ratio this year their future looks brighter than a few other higher profile teams IMO

You’d take vinnie colaiuta seriously. Man’s a genius. Also, get stuffed.

Speaking of which, I went to the Forum last Fri for Melb International Film festival to see 'Louder Than You Think' which was based on Pavement drummer Gary Young.

If anyone is remotely interested in music docos and the rock lifestyle I strongly recommend a watch.

They’re a lot to like about him. I see he’s up to 27 goals for the season now. Just for a comparison I had a look at Charlie Curnow’s numbers. Charlie scored 20 goals in 21 games in his second season and 34 in 20 in his third.
JVR has scored his 27 goals in 18 games this season.

Great analysis, bodes well. But should be noted JVR is playing in a better team now, than Charlie was early in his career.

I don't see it for Hawthorn. I see a lot of enthusiasm, but I think they have the worst (perhaps equal with Weagles) midfield in the league. I don't see the talent. Newcombe having a purple patch but he'd hardly make the bench in our team. Lewis is a decent but not great key forward in his 6th year. Sicily is A grade and easily their best player, they have no other big blokes to speak of and no great runners coming through. They are not on the rise.

Might have been mentioned already but did Maysie come off in the last 2 mins with a Hammy complaint on Sunday?

Certainly looked like it from where I was sitting. He pulled up with a slight limp. Does not appear to move freely.

Sestan and Verell good chances to forge a career as well. Sestan and elite runner in juniors I am told, belying his size and strength. Also bottom age.

I'm a believer in Verrall, albeit he hasn't set the world on fire this season. He has had some serious injury challenges to overcome this year which has no doubt negatively impacted his fitness base which is critical in the role he is asked to play.

Fingers crossed he gets a really solid pre-season in 2024 and can really start to show some solid form. Depending on where we land with ruck stocks next year I wouldn't mind getting a look at him as a tall forward option.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
