I think Richmond will be desperate with finals on the line, I think they should have beaten us on ANZAC Eve but for inaccuracy/accuracy differential, I think their backline is capable, their midfield is not missing anyone and is batting deep and I think they have just enough avenues to goal in Riewoldt, Martin and Bolton.  If Lynch was playing I'd be even more pessimistic.

I also admit there's a bit of MFCSS vibe, and it's been there all week, even ahead of the upset results that make the win more important for us.  Sometimes "I got a feeling, a feeling deep inside ..."  I have money on Richmond little-win.

Hope we go with Hibberd as sub and give Smith a full game at Casey.

I also think a loss at this time is not fatal for any of the contenders - hell if it is, put your money on Carlton for the flag.  I will have a nibble at that though if Richmond wins.

I think you have indigestion @old55 🤣

Richmond will come at us hard. They always do but I think we’re building. I just don’t see us losing this one

Looking forward to beating Richmond only for Barrett to anoint the Tigers as the 4th or 5th best side in the competition.

Having a [censored] of a day ,didnt win tatts,no bread left for toast ,dropped mob phone in sink now not working ,so [censored] off.Hope richmond burst into flames to cheer me up .May to run over their number 8 like a ride on mower in the first 10 mins.Tried to buy new mobile on line tohard only thing they didnt want know was my jock size.Time for scotch no wonder i  drink god help me.Go DEES

We’ll win today. It’ll be a resounding win. It’ll be a memorable win. We won’t lose another match this year. We’ll finish second on the ladder at the end of H&A and our first final will be at the ‘G vs Brisbane and we’ll make Zorko cry, again.

Why? Because I said so, and that’s as good a reason as any.

GO THE MIGHTY DEES! ❤️💙

PS: some DA peeps are watching the Casey match today. They just reported seeing Clarry running, and running very well. They say he looks great.

Spargypants is also there.

Hope your day gets so much better, FD. BTW, what size jocks do you wear? Asking for a mobile phone company. 😁

Sounds like Smith to be the sub with @picket fence reporting Hibberd is also at Casey.

Unless there's drastic change to our team in the coming weeks then I think Smith has found his spot in our 23. The perfect sub.

Reckon it will be another test of my weak ticker today, no game is easy this time of year (except maybe against WCE)…us by 8 points

Looks like no Brodie Grundy for Casey.

Sub?
Smith is due for a full game. He needs the miles in the legs.

Smith definitely sub.

Was doing captains run yesterday.

I’m quietly confident today but won’t lie I’d be feeling much better if Clarry and Fritta were playing!

Who wouldn’t?

I’m outdoors at a little Thai place at the top end of Bourke St and they have a dish called Crying Tiger (tough). I’ll take that as an omen.

I'll try not to complain about Goody's selections again after the cricket selections in the Ashes this year.

Very good point Leave. Warner also going deaf it would appear watching that cheat Duckett's edge 😐.

This thead is starting to have a few kinks in it!😵‍💫

I had a nightmare earlier in the year that they would beat us with a goal in the last minute. I awoke with a cold sweat. Sometimes a dream can have the opposite meaning which I hope is true.

I don’t see a problem with that. 😁

Just hope the players realise this round the umps are appearing to crack down on discent. We don't want to give Richmond any 50 metre penalties

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
