Agree. I really rate the Crows. Lost to Collingwood by 1pt at home and then 2pts at the MCG where they kicked 7.1 in a quarter. They attack relentlessly and are a great challenge for our system.

This was a good practice for when we face the Pies again. Adelaide play a very similar attacking game. Only difference is Adelaide have a much better forwardline than Pies. We held the Pies to 17 scoring shots.

We had a tough game last week, we were luck to have 8 and half days break. I leant a long time ago, after a tough game, a week long break won't be enough for some senior players to get recovered fully, they might show a bit flat here and there, please understand that. Now we had 2 close games in a row, will be a even tougher game to face Richmond next Sunday. Let's stand behind our beloved Dees, cheer them on, support them to win next game.

In both scenarios you let your opponent get the better of you for periods of the game. 
It is far less risky to hold a lead than to try and claw one back.

If JJ had some real work on his speed, he'd cruise well on the wing. He has demonstrated quite a bit of initial speed in clearances and 'run pasts' to receive in a chain, and kicks well to moving targets. He 2-way runs to space and thus, could be more dangerous with greater speed applied on the wing.

You don’t have to convince me this was a good win! They’ve run Collingwood to a kick twice and beaten both Brisbane and Port.

But it’s still the case that Adelaide aren’t a good travelling side. They’ve only won 1 game on the road and that was Hawthorn. 

Agree re top 4, as I already posted. We probably only need 2 wins from here unless you think the Dogs, GWS or Geelong will go 5-0, which for all of them appears unlikely.

But from the perspective of winning finals we look miles behind Coll and Bris who I think are the pack leaders, and would struggle with Port and Carlton the way we are playing right now.

Miles behind Collingwood? We beat them King's Birthday. Miles behind Brisbane? We beat them last week. We lost to Port by 4 points in Adelaide. I'm rapt with the win today. We won. That's all that matters. And Adelaide aren't going to play finals which is another bonus. If Adelaide play like they did today and kick a bit straighter they're a very big chance against Port next week.

Joel Smith and Tomlinson have played crucial roles for us recently. We need to keep them both in 2024.

Adelaide are the second highest scoring side in the comp. Is it that surprising they scored highly?

Later in your post you say we look miles behind Collingwood (who had an extremely similar game vs Adelaide a few weeks ago) and Brisbane (who we  beat a week ago). 

I’m surprised you didn’t have a crack at our “culture”, too. 

Glad we got the win. It certainly was a relief when the siren went! A very different heart-stopper to last week.

Would of preferred a nice cruisy win by 10 goals.

But it's probably better for overall experience to win a close game like that.

The Crows are actually a pretty good team.

 

Anyway, still a lot more improvement in the Demons to be made.

We have a battlin’ midfield right now and that’s ok but it’s going to be cut up for periods. Our press ain’t death atm which doesn’t help.

We are still a work in progress with the major frustration being - we are a defence first team but sometimes we are butter to a hot knife.
