I believe Lyon was at the same reunion in Kyabram that Reid's parents attended.  I don't believe there's anything other than a happenstance meeting.  Lyon confirmed he attended a Kyabram reunion on radio during the week and Reid's parents were also there.

Eagles need multiple 1st round picks. I wonder if we also offer them Grundy as well.

Brodie won’t want to go west when he has so many suitors on this side of the continent.

And before we talk about ‘we hold the whip hand’ - no we don’t. Players can refuse to go and while we can just keep him. Do we want to? Don’t we want to invest in a forward? Maybe JVR can avoid rucking?

With North Melbourne winning...against a soft as butter Gold Coast....we may still be a "slight chance" to get Harley Reid after all? 🤔

You would think North would threaten to take Curtin at 2/3, so our Pick 5/6 would be pretty useless to West Coast

Unfortunately, North are still best placed to trade for pick one.

2 + 16 for 1? WC get Curtin and a bonus 1st rounder (Port's)

Unless they are happy to overlook Curtain and take pick 5/6, and what else we can get.

We could come in and top that. If we can get GC pick. We’d have to pay massive overs, and get something back.

No guarantee WC gets Curtin with 4 or 5 though

But they can trade them for 2 and other picks.

We won't be offering them Grundy if he doesn't wish to go there and I doubt he would.

Simpler just to trade with North direct

Deal 1

Dees: Out - 4 and 18

           In - pick 2

Roos: Out - pick 2

           In - pick 4 and 18

Deal 2

Dees: Out - pick 2, 24 + F1 (15-18)

           In - Pick 1

WC:   Out - Pick 1

          In - Pick 2, 24 and melb F1

Essentially a 3-way trade. Not the worst possibility, and importantly a potential option if we can't get pick 4 from the suns.

I've read on another forum that the Suns have plenty of picks to cover bids for their 3 (likely top 10) academy players.  The thought being that they're more likely to try and trade pick 4 for another team's future first.  Ideally a team they project to finish near the bottom in 2024.  But who knows what Taylor has up his sleeve.

Pick 4 still equates to roughly 2,000 points. So they'll need to recuperate that in addition to a future 1st if that's their intention. Not many clubs will be able to facilitate that.

Yes, they'd want a future first plus extra.

Might be wise to deal with North. Let WC take Reid should they wish. We need pick 2. That gives us leverage. Take either.

Is Reid back in play? That is the question. And a question well worth examining.

Our experts in the war room will show us exactly how this can happen after the break.

As much as I really want Reid, West Coast won't do any deal that risks losing Curtin and North will only deal if it means they get Reid.

Hopefully we get pick 4 from GC and pick up up 2 very good kids.

Today's results are certainly great news for MFC.  Opens up our options.  WC need multiple first rounds picks as we did in 2013........  splitting our number 1 pick went along way to rebuilding our list....... a super important step to building our premiership list.  No doubt WC are very aware of this.

Reid becomes a real and live option again.  Whether it can be done and whether this is the direction the MFC wants to go, only time will tell.  But what we do know is that we have been interested enough to pursue Reid as a possible payday for our 2023 draft bonanza.  It is a fact that we have put in enormous time and effort to make this a possibility of happening.

The MFC has options on how to spend its bonanza everywhere.

This is the honey train draft/trade period for us.  Whatever direction we end up taking.......... if we nail it, we set our football club up for a decade.  We give ourselves the opportunity to create a genuine dynasty.

I am just so excited.

Yep it is exciting, Reid or multiple good young players, what a wonderful problem.

We also have a real chance at another flag.

That is way unders. 4 and 5 is a much better offer. So they miss Curtain - they’ll get two gun midfielders for the price of one.

I wouldn't be trading 4 + 5 for pick 1

But they want Curtin, he is their Reid.

Any deal needs to ensure them of Curtin.

2 plus 16 would do it.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
