I think whatever happens we just need to have faith in Jason Taylor and the MFC recruiting team. 🙏

The most important thing is getting more super football talent who are elite kicks and excellent decision makers into our side.

I see that Gresham is a FA this year and has been dropped by Lyon this week.

Should we go after him and if the Saints counter-offer, try and trade for him with our first rounder this year (not the Freo pick)?

Hoyne on SEN was warning clubs against paying too high a price, saying he'd been a 300th+ ranked player since r8, 120th in  beginning. Called him 5th least impactful with ball in hand: "Ball use is really poor"

Pick in the late 20s early 30s at best, given his drop off and the Saints dropping him.

Maybe work Grundy into a 3club swap.

Ben McKay was mentioned too on the segment as not worth the price tag

Pick in the 20s? He’s a free agent mate!

Restricted free agent, I think Demon Disciple was saying if they match the contract offer and then we have to pay up. Definitely not worth a first round pick that I was replying to.

There is good mail that Gresh will be joining Carlton

Fits the mould. High talent, injured often..

LOL. In what parallel universe are our players falling over each other to sign for West Coast because of our player welfare?

Wessonstraya mate.

Himmelberg’s decisions helps us considerably - 1 less compensation pick to worry about, that surely would have been a first rounder.

My mail from inside North is that they don’t know what they’ll get, but don’t expect a first round compo pick for McKay. If he goes to Essendon it’s not for the big bucks it would take to get into that compo band.

Great news for our pick 1 chances if true - although likely opens the door for them to receive Sanders

I won’t care if we get pick 1. A lot of water to go under the bridge.

I would have thought that they are one club that don’t need him with Motlop, Owies, Durdin, Cunningham, Fogarty etc.

The AFL will probably give them an end of 1st round but give them access to Sanders, so essentially they get two top 10 picks anyway.

Word I am hearing is the Saints will make a play for Grundy so Marshall can spend more time forward. They want to send Gresham to us as part of the trade.

Gresham is a free agent tho

Fair enough regarding pick 1 but surely pushing up the draft order in what will be a highly compromised draft can only be good for us? There could be 4 top 10 talents all taken via NGAs if Sanders is included and I would personally like to see us get up as high as possible to our picks don’t get diluted

No.

it's all guess work at this stage, but i'll go the opposite - they won't given them free access to sanders but they will give them access to a high end compo pick for mckay

Just now, whatwhat say what said:

Makes more sense. At least it’s within their own framework. A freak occurrence of backtracking on their new-ish NGA rule doesn’t make much sense.

Yes you are correct. I was careless in typing. They believe Gresham will end up at Melbourne as part of the whole wash up. How they come to that conclusion I don't know.

However I think them wanting Grundy makes sense from their point of view.

Many commentators have claimed knowledge of Grundy going to Port Adelaide.

Wasn't he from SA originally?

Interesting news if true.

I'm a big Gresham fan and truly believe his development has been stunted due to St Kilda's poor development over the years.

His numbers as a midfield forward certainly stacks up well and could add some genuine X factor to our side.

Good luck to them. Didn’t we just prove ruckman cannot become forwards? Rowan and King in their forward line is great on paper but is a massive risk.

Happily take their 2nd round pick to make a play for GCS Pick 5.

Gresham is a free agent, isn’t he?

I'm fine with that personally, given we got the same thing for Frawley (though I think he was a better player than McKay).

If they give them both I will not be happy and I'd definitely be open to taking Sanders out our first pick if he's available.

Yeah he is.

I've always liked him as a player and find it surprising he has one of the lowest DE in the comp.

He's always seemed like a neat user to me.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
