4.5 to 1.1 in the last. If they have got the fitness program right we are every chance in September. Lions are an exceptionally good team.

Seems they have. We showed great run in the last quarter, especially coming off consecutive 6 days breaks and hard games.

The talk of a Lion's choke is nonsense. We ran out the last quarter and a half. Their legs were gone! They were frighteningly good in that middle section of the game, but it wasn't enough.

Not sure such talk is nonsense. I think the Lions have to ask themselves how well they coped with the pressure of being chased down. Fagan for one looked like he was having a panic attack in the coaches box.

Our fitness and Lion's choking need not be mutually exclusive factors in influencing the outcome.

Shaking Zorkos hand after a come from behind win must feel nice.

He didn't cover Rivers at half back at the 2nd last centre bounce, allowing Rivers to make the run-thru play and drive ball fwd... eventually resulting in Melk winner

Such a downhill skiier and complete F log

May and Melksham exchanged a huge emabrace on the ground after the game.  It was lovely to see.

There has been a narrative spouted recently in the media that the fight in Entrecôte was the reason our form turned last year and explains our drop this season as well. That our culture had been irrevocably damaged somehow. It's a load of tosh.

For the 1st 3 quarters we were sitting in the AFL members surrounded by Lions fans and a lot of empty seats and it was a garbage atmosphere over there. At 3/4 time we walked around and snuck into some empty seats in the MFC reserve right next to the MCC fence and the atmosphere was fantastic. Sitting among Melbourne supporters, not feeling like you're one voice screaming into the void was just electric in the last 5 minutes. I'm gonna have to figure out how to get seats in the northern stand because I've had enough of sitting amongst opposition supporters every week feeling like every game is an away game (even against interstate teams!)

Come on over Gonz, it’s really fun in here. There’s a lady in the front row of M52, she’s been there for years and always tries to get the crowd going after each goal. Her catch cry is ‘ Make Some Noise’

This lady went to a whole new level of commitment last night. She made a stack of these laminated cards and handed them to as many people as she could in the whole of M52.

Well Dees fans all over this wonderful country and some across the oceans are rejoicing in a magnificent win.

Comeback for the ages. Was it better than the one against the cats in 21?..

It was up there with it.

But better than just getting out of jail its serves notice that despite our injuries that we are certainly contenders.

That win was just sheer will.

There was a handball Tracc did, maybe in the 3rd, that if Nick Daicos did it the commentary box window would still be covered in ectoplasm. Barely rated a mention.

Tx for supporting.

From the c7 telecast it sounded like lions supporters were in the majority. Their booing of our set shots was very loud.

Perhaps we are just better behaved.

In any case it, their booing made the win extra sweet.

Memo to Simon Goodwin

Restrict. Lachie Neale

Play through the corridor when we can

hypnotize Kozzzy to remember the player he was in round 1

let Gawn have 65% of ruck time

my memo got read 🤣🤣🤣 definitely wanted Gawn as #1 ruck though the Gawn to 90% ruck was unforeseen

And a better balanced side.

I have been following the Demons since 1960. IMO we have never had a better leading from the front captain than Max Gawn. For years I have bemoaned the fact that we never had a player who by his will could dragged the team to victory. He has in the past done it and repeated it last night. IMO the greatest captain we have had.

I thought JVR did a reasonable job of the back up ruckman.

I think it's very true and I'd put Jack Viney shoulder to shoulder with him.

I think Maxy is the more all round leader off field but those two together on the field are quite incredible with their stamina to just keep contesting

It is Saturday morning, the sun is shining, I am off to see my Granddaughter play basketball shortly and the Dees got  up in a thriller. I am at peace with the world.

Now an admission, 15 minutes into the last quarter I thought we were dead. I had given up. Wonderfully the team had not what a win.

Melky said last week the HP crew had tweaked the program to better match the 6 day / 9-10 day breaks & interstate travel.

He felt it was working well even though it wasn't a major change up.  He mentioned other factors re in-season training also.

Bowser said the same afterwards when i quizzed him about it.  Happy as Larry.

The Lions supporters were fine. Much better that pies supporters who are the absolute worst.

We have a number of match winners. Maxy, Gawn, Oliver, Trac can drag the team over the line

Melks was clutch.

Trent Rivers really impressed last night as well. Took the game on when it was in the balance. Showed potential future captaincy level leadership.

I am not for one second suggesting we don’t play Carrie and Viney together but I think Viney plays  better when he is the main man. He seems to go to a high level. Have we ever had a better Captain and Vice Captain than this pair?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
