3183 Dee 2,917 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Thanks again @kev martin - what’s super impressive (apart from your fantasy dedication to providing your Demonland compadres with training reports) is how you notice the differences and tweaks in the training sessions over the weeks. Maybe a weekly spot on the @Demonland podcast - whaddya think?! 7 2 Quote

It’s not about questioning the mentality of the playing group (or the idea of Saturday training) - as we know in reality this ground will go well beyond the point of breaking. It’s about being given equal access to both a physical and mental break. Managing ultra competitive athletes is as much about protecting them from themselves as it is about training. When questioned about he break ..Maxy said “we don’t get a typical break but they make it up by 10 day breaks either side …after Geelong …we don’t play till the following Sunday ( paraphrasing) I may be wrong but feel we didn’t get a genuine bye last year either 3 Quote

I noticed that May and Rivers had a competitive edge to their goaling, by keeping score, and the associated sledging. Easy on, Kev! I thought you wrote, "They had the mankinis out..." A most troubling image. I assume you meant they had mannequins out. At least, I hope so. 6 Quote

And regards the bye break Someone mentioned that if we want the KB freeze game we need to miss on a 10 day break Yet once again Collingwood get a 10 day break - 2 years in a row As I recall last year it was even long enough for one of their players (whom will get an even longer break this year) enough time to get to Bali and again display to the world what a wonderful human being he is Isn't The KB Game ours "in perpetuity" ever since it was decreed by the Royal Caledonian Society in Queens Rd, with a FULL 24 hour License to celebrate. 1 Quote

You have used the terms "..lack of consistency.." and "...AFL..." in the same post. There's your clue to why this has occurred. It happened last season I think also. Apply the same concept to umpiring quality, home ground allocation, interstate trips, Cats/MCG opponents fixture, oppostion visits to Kardinai Park, tanking penalities(or not e.g Matthew Kreuzer Cup, Bryce Giibs Cup..) and of couse Tribunal shemozzle.......... 2 1 Quote

Well, Kev, if it is either your brilliant write ups or your non- dulcet tones, just keep up the writings. Most of us look forward to the epistles. If we crave dulcetless tones we can always tune in to Kellie Underwood. 😮 2 1 Quote

If you play on consecutive Saturdays, that is seen as a 7 day break (ie. a week between games). Using your method, it would be 6 days as you only count the days that no football is played by the team. Soooo…are you telling me that I don’t have to go to work tomorrow, that maybe even, Monday no longer exists? That there are four days between each weekend? 1 Quote

Correct. We could and should've been scheduled no earlier than the Sat. They made sure the Cats got a 7 day break and why do they get to play consecutive Thursday nights anyway? This match should be moved to a Sat earliest. This comes back on us though to some degree. Club needs to get in there and fight for a better deal for the boys for this break. Not like we're asking for something everyone else isn't already getting. Smells like discrimination to me. 1 1 Quote

Played quite a few of the ball movement drills, by starting central and going straight down the corridor. The other ruck/maul area starts were proceeded by quick direct ball movement. Though they did head towards the outside a few times. I think the empathises was on breaking directly through the line and delivering to a lead at an off angle. No hats involved. Though on Thursday perhaps the mannequins/manikins wearing Geelong jumpers may need resuscitation, after we blitz them. Edited June 18, 2023 by kev martin 1 1 Quote
