One of Gawn or Grundy will make it taller

I also think we need to clear the 50 for Fritta and Kosi more. It’s been too congested down there.

💯

Why is everyone suddenly worried about who kicks goals. Because we lost TMac? He isn’t exactly kicking bags at the moment. JVR and Smith can easily get 2 themselves. It’s not like we’ve lost a Coleman medalist.

The bulk of our goals need to come from smalls as they have all year. If Fritta can find that magic goal kicking foot of his again, I’d be very thankful.

What’s the explanation for BB our only truly recognised fwd sitting at Casey??? is Smith the  answer?? Sachce why the hell did we draft him can’t get a game, Feel for JVR & needs a rest…. Club just continues to struggle to find or develop a power fwd… Neitz was our last & retired in 08 that’s 15 years ago

I like these changes, our fwd line has a Collingwood like feel to it, but in order for this to work and be effective we to change our delivery inside fwd 50. I’m expecting our pressure game to return tomorrow night as well. The addition of Thommo allows lever to get back to his natural game.

Lets go Dees!

Danger game this week !!

Based on our last 2 weeks as well as other results ie Hawks over Saints every game is a danger game. I’m naively expecting a different looking Dees tomorrow night.

Dont mind these changes actually.

Keen for Friday night footy and hopefully a win!

And a victory beer!

Its not just how we look..   curious to.our intent.

Hopefully come out playing winning footy... not defending a loss.....and lose.

May will take Curnow. He’s been in better form recently and he has the speed and height for that matchup.
Tomlinson will play on McKay. Again good with height there as McKay is very tall. The leaves Lever to take Silvagni which is a far better matchup.

Hibbo was never going to play on Curnow. The height difference is too much and would leave us very vulnerable in the air.
I am glad we are taking no risks with Hibbo. He is very important against the smaller Pies forwardline.

Can't wait to see Tommo go one out with McKay. I think he'll win

JVR 193 Smith 191 Fritta 188.

McKay 203, Curnow 194, Silvagni 193 or so.

True Redleg but we have Grundy 203 to help chop out and Max as a backup. We should be more mobile this week and let’s hope Fritta can take advantage. Plus Kozzie and Chandler are both due for a good game.!!

Yeah it's not like our talls were binning them through the sticks with regularity.

It's gotta come from the smalls, Chandler to bag a hatfull.

Whatever happened to Gawny dropping behind the ball to assist the defence and take marks? We looked so solid in defence when he’d drop back and help out.

I don't mind the changes. I will need to see a significant body of work from Smith as a forward before I think that's the right move - he finally looked like he was making it as a defender last year and I hate it when we flip flop players back/forward so much that they never settle anywhere. Fingers crossed he can make an impact.

I don't know what more Brown needs to do but let's hope he keeps plugging away at Casey and keeps the pressure on Smith and JVR.

Losing Hibberd hurts but we're finally doing what I think we need to do for the rest of the season by playing three tall defenders.

Hunter for Harmes makes sense, but IMO we're still too thin in the middle.

This must be the biggest pre game thread ever!

And it will be probably the longest post game thread ever if things go south.

Agree completely with this…! Good call BrisDee

Has Tomlinson played in the last 12 months with May and Lever? From memory he’s only come in to cover. Am I wrong?

May, Lever and Tomlinson have only played once together since Tomlinson’s ACL.

It was against Port last year when we held them to 1 goal to 3 qtr time.

Edit - he also played with May and Lever in the other Port win late last year.

Don't mind tge changes. We needed the extra big defender.

The Smith forward experiment will be so intriguing to watch.

Hogan doesn't qualify? Albeit his early departure.

They might drop McVee to give him a rest.

Are you suggesting that McVee just has a week off on the sofa?  That is not how it works.  IF he played at Casey his running would (as in AFL) be monitored and he would have to put in extra track work to maintain his 'loading'.  Though I guess VFL could be less taxing on the body if that is what you mean.

Still no BBB? Joel Smith promoted after a whole 6 disposals for Casey last week as apposed to BBB with 19? FMD.

wiz - I guess the match committee / coaching panel look at a bit more than disposal data.

Sure we haven't lost a Coleman medalist, but we have (on goal stats) in effect lost our leading gaol kicker of the last few years, Fritta, whose form and output has been way below his best.   Injury?  Opposition worked him out?  Even worse delivery forward than in previous years?

The mantra of rewarding consistent performance at Casey has belatedly been given the green light with the selection of Adam Tomlinson. Jake was pleased with the decision to put the band back together. Lever can now breathe easier with the spotlight moved elsewhere.

There is a SOS out on Joel Smith to keep body sound, channel Sean by replicating that recent terrific grab at Casey against North and be a functional forward. A collective sigh of relief will be heard at the ‘G prequel to the King’s B day Big Freeze. If #29 succeeds it will a mission complete.

Lachie Hunter has recently been nominated for membership of the exclusive Whipping Boy club by ‘supportive’ demonland posters. He appears destined to move up the  poster boy ladder as the season progresses. Jack Watts position at the top of the ladder does not appear to be under threat at this stage.

Jack had more form.

Do any of you even feel empathy that Hibbo and Tom are injured? So unkind!  How about  some respect!

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
