The persistence with our NQR role players needs to stop

OUT: Harmes, McDonald, ANB
IN: Hunter, Brown, Woewodin

May as well give Woewodin or another kid a crack

May/Lever will likely need help against the Blues tall timber but struggling to see the point of bringing Tomlinson in - perhaps Disco a chance?

Maybe we should try using our best key forward for once?

The team balance has been off since Petty was used as a forward which weakened the backline and prevented Ben Brown coming back in.

Also, clearances are trash and we can’t win a scrap or the ball when it hits the ground.

Voss and Goodwin in a Loser Leaves Town match.

Carlton by 22.

The Chandler and McVee experiments are probably over.

Chandler was better than Spargo today. No idea why they subbed him off and not Spargo, who can’t kick further than 30m.
McVee was ok. He isn’t the issue. It’s the midfield and half forward line that is absolutely embarrassing us.

Just like 70% of our players, I am starting to feel apathy about our season. I just don't care what happens next week.

I don't know if I will even watch the game.

Good thing I am going overseas very soon.

Fair call on Spargo.

Blew countless opportunities today but he’s one of Goody’s 2021 favs.

Feel like Bailey Laurie needs a fair crack at it. Perhaps replacing Harmes.....or Spargo

Van Rooyen needs to also go back to Casey and build some confidence! Agree with inns.. Plus Time for Woewodin to debut!

Kick straight and blues win easy. Our forward line is non existent.

Spot on CB. Very rarely does playing a backman forward ever work. Sure, it may surprise a few sides but not a long term fix.

Didn’t do much for Casey. Laurie also underwhelming

We have the highest points FOR aggregate in the AFL. 1110p

We have the personnel theyre just not clicking. Better delivery wouldnt hurt.

Not sure why Brown is on the outer, a far better forward option for mine over McDonald. Isn't agile but neither is t-mac and will provide a better target and draw more free kicks.

Realistically the game plan needs to be adjusted or it won't matter who comes in or out. Our ball movement is so slow that any forward is going to struggle down there.

I really only want to see three things selection-wise:

  1. Another tall defender alongside May and Lever. Our insistence of going with May and Lever on their own, stretching HIbberd, is not working. It's not a good strategy made even worse by seeing Lever's AA form in the first few weeks fall apart since we moved Petty. I don't care whether that's Tomlinson, Turner or someone else.
  2. A change to the two tall forwards. The JVR-TMac combo doesn't work. If JVR's tired, he should be rested. Either way, TMac isn't good enough. I don't know what the FD are waiting to see in Brown but he was averaging 4 goals a game at AFL level before his injury and perhaps we should try putting him back in. He can hardly do worse than what we're seeing.
  3. A rebalancing of our smalls. We have too many small defenders who are low possession getters. We have too many small forwards who are low possession getters. Too much is left to too few. We need to increase the number of midfielders in the side who can rotate through the middle at the expense of one of the smalls. I fear this will mean Chandler or McVee will be dropped, which saddens me because I like both of them and like the freshness they bring to the side, but something has to change.

Just give a chance to Disco Turner, Laurie or any of the other midfielders in Casey.

Maybe Sasche or Melksham.

If we are not going to be serious about contending for a flag at least lest develop some young talent.

Ancient history the only start that matters is win or lose.

SFA in the VFL - no where to go it seems.

Sadly true but by playing the slow boundary game at VFL level we don't give anyone much chance to shine

Tomlinson in is a must

Time to play the young kids as the season is over

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
