Grundy and Gawn need to run Jackson around ragged and tire him out

Careful. it might be vice-versa

Soft insufferable display. This game plan is complete trash. I can count on one hand the players out there today who give a stuff about winning.

What a disappointing performance.

Our midfield skill and aggression is not just off - it’s well below our best. We have  come way back to the pack and in some area starting to fall behind.

Think Longmuir has coached this well, game is not on our terms at all and it's near impossible to score.

Are we getting paid by the handball??’n

 WHY ALL THE HANDBALLS?

And why do we always look so mental f going forward?

Truth is we need to win today because we’re not going to bear better teams playing like this.

IDK if its the Dees bias but I feel like we have been shafted by the umps at certain points, TMac looking better but that quarter was tough

ANB needs to do more, I know there's a lot of love for him on Demonland. I just can't see the value he adds to our list and overall gameplan.

Thank heavens for the defence. Nothing happening forward of the ball. Langdon can’t get into it. Spargo of his game.

Are we being out coached? (non rhetorical question)

Need more from Viney

Enjoying the game. Can sense we will break them open in the 2nd half. Carn Dees

Worst half of footy for the year

worst than v lions

worst than v bombers

worst than v port

overhandballing is horrible

ineffective inside 50

going wide going wide and wide

Best. Ummm Trac and lots of others just going ok.

Viney. Kozzzy. Chin. Do something!!! And Spargo is a negative

Longmuir and Lyon are ugly coaches. It's putrid football to watch. Neither team will win a flag playing oppressive football. The strategy is to minimise the deficit and steal a win. Onviously you do everything you can to win but it's terrible for the game.

Thankfully given how poorly we are playing our defensive structure is tight and back to being the best part of our game.

Why does Kozzy seem to be on a rollercoaster every game?.

One spectacular goal, or play. Then 10 minutes of zero impact or involvement.

Any chance we try and go fast and direct through the corridor?

We’ve tried that at times but certain players don’t have the skills.

We can revel in a time where Melbourne is OK to good vs what we have been in recent memory, but if we do we ignore the fact that we just aren’t doing very well (beating up on easy beats) and we could do so much better. We’re out coached and wasting generational talent and it’s frustrating. I’m not a sad sack I just know the better teams in recent history have not frustrated their fan bases as much as ours does.

What are we doing!!!???

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
