McKay to full back, Weitering to centre half forward.

he's no better then what we have currently, plus we don't need our whole team kicking around the body when they are 20m out straight in front. we already have so many issues with accuracy which lost us a flag or two.

Last year he kicked 49.21 from 21 games, though granted there were probably a few out on the full.

If he was available for a decent price we would be crazy not to go for him, given we are crying out for a 200cm forward who can average over 2 goals a game. He would also help accelerate JVRs game I think, given he would be the main focal point of the forward line and JVR would play second tall.

I would rather put that money into jacko and/or kosi.

plus we have a huge key position player problem, the only one on our list that has a permanent spot in the fwd or back line is turner which is down back. lever and may who in my view are nearly finished as well as tmac who has one more year left in him, petty is solid up fwd and down back but it depends on other players and how they are going. jvr just needs a legend of the club to work with him we have heaps why has this not been done??? mj is completely lost atm, Adams and kentfield we don't know about yet but look somewhat promising, fullerton is just as lost as mj, I also have no clue about Verrall but he has improved a lot this season. oh and we are hopefully bringing in Kalani at the end of the year there is another one. i think some of these lads absolutely have it in them but we have no idea where to play them and they just need a crack at it to see.

McKay is also the 2nd highest rated 2nd ruck only behind Blitzavs (Champion Data).

Harry turns 28 at the end of this year. LJ turns 24 in September.

If we're going to pay a second ruck $1mill, I'd rather it be LJ who is younger and a better ruck, who will one day be a permanent ruck.

That said, I think $1mill is too much to pay for a ruck.

He will not be a second ruck for long Adam

Thing is, are some suggesting we get him in as (almost) a like for like replacement for Max (in terms of impact / dominating the match)?

I doubt there is anyone that can do that at present including LJ. On his best days yes, he is probably very influential and effective. But for mine he still does a bit too much picking and choosing when he brings that.

If it's not so much about LJ then, do we just get the best available ruck around and spend the rest of our tickets on getting a brute KF that can add a few extra goals to the score alot of the time and help lock the ball i50 more often?

What’s Gawn worth?

$1 mill, because he's more than a ruckman, but I think you'll find Max has taken unders to keep this group together.

He could swap teams & positions with his identical twin. Could be a win / win and nobody would be any the wiser.

Jackson will offer us more as well but I agree, let’s not overpay

right, so baggers have no 1st rounder in 2025

ship mckay to the bloods for theirs?

Correct, no 1st rounder for this year's draft but the Blues could pick up Harry Dean (son of two time Premiership player, Peter Dean) and he is a possible late 1st rounder for the 2025 draft. He was selected yesterday in the Vic Country squad alongside fellow Carlton Father-Son prospect for 2026, Cody Walker.

Haven’t read the OP or any posts, just the thread title. It’s a resounding no.

Five pages into the thread, Ethan 'Angel Eyes' Tremblay ignores shots fired, unrolls the saddle bag, calmly fixes the extended stock to his pistol, and puts a bullet right through the forehead at 30 paces.

Would rather we put work into getting a key back, such as Leek Aleer

Why ? It’s clear a KPF is still a greater game changer.

Like when we put AJ into the side and kicked 19 goals? I think Im with @Stiff Arm

Reliance upon an inconclusive member, by Carltons bog standard results, is virtual suicide.

McKay is certainly not flawless

but he did kick 49.21 last year.

obviously the price needs to be right but to dismiss him out of hand is ridiculous

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
