Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Really feel like petty not playing the second half had a bigger impact than I thought it would, doesn't help that the hawks actually decided to stop playing like a U-16 team for 10 mins

What happened to Petty???

Clearances remain an issue - can’t understand why given the personnel. Real shame that Petty was subbed out - was looking to be a turning point game for him as a forward. Love what Spargo brings.

We were mostly smacked up in clearances in the third.  Grundy had a 3rd quarter mare imho which handed them the momentum.

Eventually stopped the rot but only after Max took over the ruck duties in the middle.

If you offered me a ten goal win before the game I would have taken it.

We are spoiled that we can complain about a 200% win but it really felt like we should have been pushing closer to a 100 pt flogging we owe the hawks.

JVR taking some great marks and breaking open packs. Once he develops AFL level endurance he's going to be amazing. He's now kicked a goal in everyone of his 7 games 😊

Regarding centre bounces, I'm confident they set up to get a clean clearance out the front of the stoppage for maximum impact. Teams are working really hard to try to disrupt this at the expense of it being less structured. Around the ground, we are beating teams on turnover and giving up clearance to do this.

In 2021 we were a turnover team until Round 20 when we started to score from stoppage, and we saw the effect of that in the PF and GF. I think once we get the centre clearance chemistry right - be it through exposure for the rotating players, or by allowing the big 3 more time there later in the season - teams will have to contend with multi ways we can score against them.

Imo Petts was having his best game as a forward before injury.  Hopefully just bruising to his foot.  Club saying moon boot is precautionary.

Very frustrating watching such a great list of players fumble, make poor choices, handball to team mate's feet, and get beaten at the ground ball game. I simply don't get it.

Kayo ought to be flogged for the reliability of their product.

Trac, Oliver and Viney were all immense AND flawed.

Rivers and ANB were brilliant in the last quarter.

Fritsch looks half-hearted too often.

If Sparrow and Jordon are fighting for the same place in the 22, tonight's game suggests Jordon gets the chocolates. Sparrow's work rate was good, but his effectiveness and clumsiness were poor.

Pushing in the back in marking contests is now legal again. Both teams did it all night.

Why do I feel so frustrated after a 10 goal win? It might be time to lower my expectations because the last 3 games have done my head in.

A few things to work on but a 54 point win when not at your best is a good sign. At least the umpires weren’t a factor either - just 24 frees.

They were a factor by umpiring very poorly. A stack of missed holding the balls. Poor control of manning the mark. A lot of holding off the ball. Poor positioning.

Was never going to be 60 frees given it was a lot of kick to kick but they missed a dozen easily.

It was a young and inexperienced crew for the worst game of the week doing their best, but not paying free kicks is just as bad as paying wrong ones

Was it a 200% win? Isn't that a 100 point win?

He looks injured to me. Kept grabbing his calf. He was off the ground for quite a bit and was in the square more than usual.

Clearly pushing thru something @WalkingCivilWar isn’t he?

I stand by my observation on Oliver's changing game - another 5 intercept possessions including a couple of quite important ones from positioning himself in smart places. Also continues to build up his marks-per-game. All without sacrificing his core inside mid role - yet to have fewer than 5 clearances in a game. I maintain my belief that he may be on the cusp of being the all-time greatest midfielder.

Anyone else think he looks a little taller lately, or is it just shorter shorts?

Also, Trent Rivers... bubble bubble bubble something really good is brewing there. In fact, we have an extraordinary group of medium defenders at the moment and I think the increasing commitment of the midfield to supporting defence is in turn giving us more opportunities to use those half-backs as offensive weapons.

Correct...lower your expectations. Am I happy about beating Hawthorn by 9 goals? Yes: are you kidding? Would I have taken a 9 goal win before the game? Stupid question.

An uninspiring game and we move on.

Did we learn much about the forward line

Well, the Petty debate will no doubt continue but he did have a significant impact in the half-game he played.

I like your honesty. I’d just say that there will come a time when we are dreadful again. Enjoy it while it lasts.

By the way, the 90 point win did your head in? Didn’t take me long to find Steven May’s alias.

I stand corrected.  Petty had 6 marks and 2 goals b4 hobbling off.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
