How nice to be sitting out in the sunshine at the footy.

As opposed to the freezing night last night

It wasn’t actually cold at all

Weid with 2 goals.

I get that Essendon’s defence is EDFL division 3 standard this afternoon but Geelong’s potency will be a concern at the business end of the year. 64 points half way through the second quarter.

Live ladder;

Essendon now out of the 8.

Good times.

They're already organising a 10 year reunion for the guys that played in their first six games.

I may be the odd one out but I’d rather Geelong fall of the face of the earth… as opposed to the Bombers.

Terrible from the bombers. Cats doing as they please.

Will be interesting to watch Collingwood and see if it’s a reflection on the short turn around.

I reckon Weid looks better on the Wing  at Essendon.
Didn’t mind him there with us. Less pressure/contest.

For all the Cameron hype, it is starting to look like Tom Hawkins really is Geelong's beating heart.

We talk about us needing to capitalise on our list and win multiple flags while we can.... This should be said about Geelong far more than us. There probably hasn't been a better key forward pairing than Hawkins & Cameron in the last 200 years. Throw in all time great/club legends Dangerfield, Stewart, Duncan and a team full of fantastic role players with the best home ground advantage in the league - if they don't win at least 2 before Hawk retires it's a huge failure.

Curnow and McKay can be this good too, but they're early-mid 20s and need to prove themselves over the long haul, which both Hawkins and Cameron have already done.

As close to a cheat code as you'll ever see at the professional level

I agree - that combo is quite lethal if age wasn’t a factor  would you prefer a Hawk/ Cameron duo over  centreline?

How do the Geelong forwards constantly get away with clear and blatant pushing in the back?

The answer should be obvious really. #integrity

Zerk is giving away at least 15kg to Hawk

not even a contest

this is hilarious. Geelong up by 40 in the first Q can’t put away the bombers off a 5 day break

Gold Coast are on

Tigers look horrible

early days but still

Cats definitely going to be very hard to beat.  Scoring power and plenty of options.  Hawkins and Cameron are immense.

Bombers effective with skills through the inside through the corridor.  Cats defence is elite and (alert to Goody), if you go wide and restrict options, they can shut you down.  Dees skills and one grab footy will be tested.

Cats, Pies, Lions and Demons are the best 4 in my view.

Weid with 4 goals, is that his personal best?

Edit: make that 5

Edited by Nascent

Well done to weid. 5 goals.

Geelong probably should won by more but hey it's another Essendon loss.

Over to you now Adelaide.

Oh and go gold coast

Gee this Tiger Sun game is a poor standard.

Chol is a terrible player.

Dusty Martin ... 'don't argue' ... pushed an opponent in the neck. No free kick ... of course.

The Tigers don’t travel well

47 points combined in a half at Marvel....

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
