No surprises is a bit of a surprise...

May and Hibberd looked tender and Chandler ??

So much for managing the quick turnaround

Hi DJ. As much as that concerns me my response related to the inclusion of No.19 up front. I guess their best defender goes to JVR then?

That line up is a joke. Only a few named were in their real positions.

That's the whole point - Goody's having a joke with us. He does this so 'Landers go insane. Laugh along I say. He's probably watching on laughing with the way he's #%&*!#@ with our brains. It's his secret weekly indulgence.

Typo

I was hoping that Daniel Turner would have got a run in the backline, really surprised that Hibbo got up he looked in a bit of trouble late in the game skying kicks. He is a tough customer.!!

I recon Hibbo perpetually looks in a state of trouble. Love him.

Lever was calling out a nickname to Schache.

"Weasel",  I was taken a back.

Perhaps he has weaseled his way into the team, or his bonding with deep and meaningful discussions.

The selection mirrors the kind of week on DL.

I resemble that remark!

I was hoping some of the old codgers would be managed this week with the short turnaround - May and Hibberd. Similarly, I hope the mids are rotated out of the centre a little more for Kozzie, JJ and Sparrow.

Of course we won't take Norf lightly!

I smell some late outs.

Just something in the air.

Didn't Rivers have a knock as well? Maybe just cramp

Yeah, just cramp.  Was stretching it out for a while before he totally missed that kick and was subbed immediately after.

They’ll look to stretch us for height, especially after the Essendon approach last week.

typically we’d just run all over them but with the short break and injuries to some of our smalls, there is more risk in this game than I’m comfortable with.

Maybe Fritter at centre half back is a thing.

A few posters have expressed doubts and concerns about the game against Norf.

I don't get it!

We will [censored] on Norf from a great height!

I don’t agree. We are in very mediocre form and bottom sides come out with great intent against us while we often come out napping.
5 day break on top of that and this could end in tears.

I’m not outraged. I just think it’s stupid.

Less stupid or more stupid than telling the opposition exactly how we're going to line up?

Correct Jaded, I expect they will come out hard. They may well hang around until half time .... but after that ....

I just realised it. The Deez media division ^%&*@#-!p the media release. They reversed the lines. Should have read:

B: J Jordon, J.van Rooyen, J.McVee

HB: J.Viney, J.Schache, M.Hibberd

C: E.Langdon, C.Oliver, T.Sparrow

HF: A.Brayshaw, B.Fritsch, T.Rivers

F: J.Bowey, S.May, J.Lever

Makes much more sense this way.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
