Just in case folks haven't noticed, Richmond is third bottom on the ladder.  It will be beyond embarrassing if we we lose, which we won't.

The danger is Dusty if he decides to put on one of his Big Game performances.  But it is a long time since those heady days of 2020 for him.

A win to maintain our % will be just fine: 3 to 6 goals.

Dees by 6+ goals.

Don't forget to buy a veteran a beer tomorrow.

My good self and my entourage shall commence pub crawling our way to the G at around lunchtime.

I am fully confident of enjoying a comprehensive victory tonight and, with that in mind, have given my Sportsbet account a jolly good  thrashing.

It seems your socially questionable flagellations have moved on from employees, @Bitter but optimistic you're becoming 'a progressive'.

I'm going to my local 530 am service here in Bulli Nsw. I have a few of my grandad's medals. He fought at the Somme.

Can someone please tell me if it's appropriate to wear any of them?

My son has in the past but do adults who haven't served where them out of respect too.? Tx for any advice.

Yes Deeves, you can wear them but you must wear them on your RIGHT breast. The actual recipient of medal/s wears them on the left breast.

Love this match every year and the ceremony beforehand.

We’ll win comfortably tonight.

Yea, tx very much for that. Just spoke to a mate going tmrw who confirmed the same thing. Would be a pretty bad faux pas. Enjoy tonight.

It’s a beautiful day out there and tonight will be special. The kids are always taken aback by the ceremony, it’s become their favourite night of the year.
@WalkingCivilWar a truly special night to be out there on the G.

On the game itself, I feel better with Lever back in defence.

Great to hear! I've never actually been to a dawn service at the shrine but I live on St Kilda Rd now so I'll be getting down even if it's a late finish tonight.

That's a great question Deever, my grandfather and great uncle served in New Guinea and I've never done it but always thought it was appropriate to wear the medals on behalf of the deceased. I'd like to hear from someone in the know as well.

Edit: See WCW answer above.

You can wear medals of a deceased person, Layz. Only you have to wear them on your RIGHT breast.

edit: just realised I’ve already said this. Been up since 5am. Clearly need another coffee. 🤭

Do you go to the Dawn Service Dubceedub?

I have done. This year I won’t be able to. I actually did the driveway one during Covid with my neighbours. That was special.

Also guys my husband is coming tonight for the first time this season. He’s only seen us lose live twice. Lock in a win.

GameDay on steroids right here. I’ve been up since 5am like a kid on Xmas morning. In terms of banner this is the biggest H&A match for the season. Every week there’s a maximum number of people allowed on banner crew (for the raising of it). That number is halved tonight because it’s a shared banner so half the spots are filled by the Richmond cheer squad. I'm proud to say I got a guernsey. I’m beyond grateful. Others who’ve had the honour tell me it’s an experience like no other, especially since we’re out in the middle for the entire ceremony.

I’ll defs post pics of both sides of the banner tomorrow or Wednesday in the banner thread, but I really wanna show a closeup of two elements without spoiling the whole spectacle of it in it’s entirety. The wattle is on Richmond’s half and the poppies are on ours…

If I seem subdued (ie not my usual annoying, excitable self) that’s because I’m genuinely humbled by the opportunity afforded me.

PS:  It still looks weird to see Richmond folk at our site. 😁

Looks fabulous.  Can not wait to see it in it's full glory tonight.  Well done to you all.

I still remember stumbling onto my front porch the first Anzac day post covid at the crack of dawn. I looked down our cul de sac and saw just about every neighbour standing at attention in some interesting states of attire as we could hear the last post drifting through the air from somewhere only to be interrupted  by the odd disrepectful laugh of a kookaburra.  It may not seem like much but I really felt proud to be an Australian.

Grandfather dad side flew Spitfires (not bad for a boy from Tallangatta) and mum’s dad was in the Solomons/PNG as an army engineer and wife’s were coal stokers in the Navy so we’re taking the boys to their first service so they get a sense of it all.

Another Richmond supporter is born.

What's the expectation on tonight's crowd.

One of the bigger nights on the footy calender, a beautiful night for footy & on the eve of a public holiday.

Our home game & yeah tiges aren't going great, but... surely we can get at least 75k tonight?

Anything less than 70k would be pretty disapointing, wouldn't it?

Im tipping 76k

Hoping it is a 60 - 40 crowd in favour of the Dees

I think we'll get as high as the late 70's.

Don't think it will be any lower than 70K.

King's Birthday we should be getting at least 80K if both sides are up and about.

I'll be wearing my medal tonight. I've never done so in the past as I usually save it for ANZAC Day, but I saw a few veterans wearing them at the game last year so I might as well join in. Remember to wear a fig of rosemary instead of a poppy and as you've been told by others already to wear your ancestors medals on the right breast pocket.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
