Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thought Dunstan deserves a go espcially if Sparrow is underperforming. Brown and McDonald looked average, is a problem we need to get sorted going forward as both look a bit old. Tomlinson needs to see a psychologist, he is shocking out there at the moment.

BBB had difficulty causing defensive pressure. His best efforts would be spreading his arms out and kind of zoning an area making the opponent with the ball have only 180 ° of exit. He looked a lot taller than any of the Tigers backs. Should have dominated and missing set shots without much angle is bad footy. Didn't appear to be much wind out at Casey given that a kite was flying above the field. Need to want to win and not just be satisfied if they want to be AFL. Competitiveness is a must. Best players don't even like losing at tiddlywinks.

No White, Moose Munro or Baldi leaves us short in the middle at this level. I, too, worry about our midfield depth. We must use those 4 x top 36 draft picks this year to compliment our current on-ball brigade and look towards the future beyond Clarrie, Trac and Vines.

Not big on stats myself it's what you do with them that counts, unfortunately a lot of his disposals were wasted.

BBB, TMac & Tommo all struggled & at times their fumbles were embarrassing.

Given all 3 have struggled to hold down a spot in the last year or so you would think all 3 are at the crossroads.

Dunstan missed some quite simple hit ups. Those turnovers will kill us at AFL level. Sparrow has a good kick, and is getting better the more his confidence rises. Agree, that he appears to be struggling, but he may be playing his team role well. At the captain's run today, they were using Tom as an outside runner/ball receiver (unusual, as he is usually in and under/around).

Dunstan is good for the development of young players, like Woey and AMW, at those stoppages.

3165 needs a bit of support and he will give positive feedback as well as his honest opinions. Certainly dislikes personal hits.

He reads and knows the game well, I like his opinions and he is brave enough to put alternative perspectives out there.

This was a big problem today...with BBB and Tommy, the Tiges just walked the ball out with ease.

There wasn't much forward pressure at all and it needed to start with the senior players.

All well and good, Kev. But it’s THE WAY in which he expresses his opinions, regardless of how valuable they might be. His belligerence is unproductive and unnecessary. It’s tiresome and irritating and serves no purpose.

He dislikes personal hits? Who doesn’t? I wonder if he knows why he cops personal hits. Common denominator etc.

He likes biting back, if we treat him kindly then the discussion is unlikely to be about the personal. As he said a few times, "debate his opinion" not his scathing remarks, and I think you will find a reasonable intelligence.

I don't sugar coat it, and will refuse to, if someone writes something that can be debated, well that's good and I like that and the same goes for me, but when you answer with rubbish and you are just negative then that's not a debate or point of view, all you need to do is explain where you think i am wrong and go from there, that's the problem here, I have explained my view of some players but people complain without explaining why or are willing to accept players flaws because they like them.

Went along today and all I'll say is that as disappointing a loss as today was for Casey, it was as equally an impressive win for Richmond. Winning at Casey Fields is not easy, and they ran and spread really well from contest to contest while nullifying our run. They were also very accurate in front of goal, at one stage being 14.4 while at one point we were 2.10. That there was the game.

My take outs from this week.

1. James Harmes has given himself every chance of a recall. He was clearly our best and competed all day.

2. Casey's senior players are very important. No Munro, no White and no Buntine today and Casey lost. There should have been enough AFL experience out there to cover, however you could tell that senior core was still missed. Especially Munro.

3. Top heavy Casey. Today Casey went in with Bell in the ruck, Farris-White 2nd ruck, Brown, McDonald, Jefferson and Sestan forward. As a result Richmond ran the ball out of the back line with ease and got to 28 points in front. Casey started to get back into it once McDonald moved into the ruck  and Casey ensured they always had at least 2 of Bell, Farris-White, Brown, Jefferson or McDonald on the bench and improved their run across the ground. This could mean we won't see Bell with Casey for a while.

4. Bad kicking = Bad football. Casey had more scoring shots and could have easily won had they converted better. Mean while Richmond converted most opportunities and deserved their victory.

Until next time.

early season he showed a bit but I was surprised he didn't do better today as he would have been up against the third defender. The forward delivery though was very bad... high and wayward

For his development he needs a quarter each week as the main target

It would not have been easy with BBB and Tmac, as it seemed they wanted to play through them a majority of the time and as a young player he might have been a bit intimidating in not wanting to get in the way, so to speak.

I've only read your "fire back", as a challenge to debate. Haven't read a word where you do personal attacks.

Some are very defensive/protective of our players, and know many players families read demonland.

My advice would be to do twice as many positive opinions as honest negative one's. WCW is a sweet person, if you also show the positive, I think she would be more supportive. Her feedback showed that, when you were positive about one of my posts.

Here’s an idea… how about him NOT making scathing remarks in the first place. If he doesn’t want them to be debated, why include them at all?

Any chance you’d consider also taking what I said onboard? Even some of it?

Incidentally, I won’t put you on ignore as you suggested since I actually learn from your posts. It’s just that the nasty delivery is making it really difficult to tolerate.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
