CASEY: Rd 04 vs Essendon

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

Some big changes for this week’s game.

In: Harmes Jordon Melksham Woewodin

Out: Baldi Buntine Munro Sheridan

Jimmy Munro out injured is a big loss.

All four MFC players named as emergencies for tomorrow are named four Casey. One will be the substitute and, depending on whether he’s used and for how long, may not play on Sunday for Casey.

Bummer I enjoy going to windy Hill not sure why  be honest, it was [censored] when bombers played there and is now in a serious case of decay. Weather is rain and windy on Sunday should just peachy at Tulla! Looks like tv game to me.

My last trip to Windy Hill was in 60's. My cousins and I, plus neighbours' kids, were conveyed there in the back of my uncle's ute. But we had a blanket.

It's changed... no ticket required..just walk in. They don't have a scoreboard so they wheel in an old fashioned yellow light board.. so small that as a visitor you have to ask where it is.

Have seen some videos of the outdoor oval at the Hangar. Looks fine but nowhere near the memories of Windy Hill

Loss of Munro and Buntine (and White still out). Very young Casey group.   Jordon probably will be sub so expect Baldi to play.

Jordon will play the game is on Saturday the reserves are on Sunday.

This is probably the first time in several seasons that Casey have gone into a game without both “heart and soul” players in Mitch White and James Munro but to offset that they have a few Demons with a lot to prove and some up and coming Casey players to make this an interesting contest.

Essendon with both Lenny Hayes and Aaron Lord playing off their half back line.

Playing out of position, but good to see they're both still running around after all these years.

We have a very inexperienced backline.

It will be a real test for them.

With two Smiths and two Turners on our list, it wouldn't hurt to include players' intitials in the team lineup.

With respect one of our Smiths is only half on the list

Melbourne’s form yesterday opens it up for a few players looking for promotion to the Anzac Eve game.

Rare opportunity for a small forward to strut their stuff and take Spargo’s spot, for a week at least.

I know the theory behind TMac’s running but also think Schache as a 200cm 26 year old  has an opportunity to show how he can be a more potent second ruck as well as forward.

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.
